Opiate use in Northeast Pennsylvania

I just read a lengthy article on opiate use in Northeast Pennsylvania. The numbers are shocking. In the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area in 1992, 19 people sought treatment for heroin addiction and 13 for other opiates. By 2005, the heroin number was up to 820, and the number of people admitted to treatment for other opiates was at 245. That's huge!! This is not Philadelphia, after all.

The article mentions some physicians who have been arrested for related crimes, including the slime bucket my insurance company sent me to in the year before he was arrested for trading morphine for sex (among other things).
