There are two ways to get from Logan to South Station where the trains depart. She would have to take a taxi, which will bw fairly expensive, since the airport & train station are not near each other.

Also, according to the airpot's web site, she could take the subway's Silver Line to South Station:

"South Station is a subway stop on the Red Line and a commuter rail hub for South Boston. To get there from the airport take the Silver Line bus service.

This rapid transit service is the main airport bus service. The Silver Line drops off and picks up in front of the terminals. As well as South Station, Silver Line buses also go to other south-central destinations like Boston Convention and Exposition Center. Routes 449 and 459 also travel via the airport."

Thank you, nelles. I did have a look at the website, but it seems a little daunting to me. I'm sure she will be fine. I guess my greatest concern is making sure she finds the bus or taxi (my dh and I keep going back and forth about that one, which one is safer, faster, easier, etc.) and that she gets on the correct train.

thunderboltlee's link shows that the Silver Line I mentioned is actually a BUS, not a subway as I originally thought. (I haven't Boston since 2005). Anyway, the fare is only $1.25 (must be exact), which would be MUCH cheaper than a taxi.

i would not want my 15 year old travelling into Logan airport alone. However there are airlined that go to Green airport in warwick rhode island and that is a much easier route to go in my opinion.

Now I'm a nervous wreck!! I talked to a nice woman at Logan and she said she would not send her daughter to the train station by herself. So, she suggested the Peter Pan bus which she would catch directly outside of baggage and that will take her straight to Providence. Guess I won't relax until she's home again.

She'll be fine! She's less than 3 years away from being able to serve in the military, she can handle the airport.

It's good to hear someone say that! It wasn't the airport I was so concerned about, it was the train station. But now with bus arrangements, hopefully all will be well.

South Station, where she'll catch the train, is almost as busy as an airport terminal. It is major transit point, with Amtrak, commuter rails, buses, and a subway station. Plus it's completely modernized, with lots of light.

As long as she's smart enough (and I assume she is) not to talk to or go off with strangers, she'll be fine.

BTW, how is she getting BACK to Logan?

We were in Boston last weekend and took the T (train lines) all over the city. The subway system in Boston is clean, well-lit, patrolled by metro workers, cheap, and easy to maneuver, and has maps galore. You can't get lost. It puts the NYC subway to shame. We went from the North End to the Museum of Fine Arts (South Side), back again, and from the North End to Arlington, back to Government Center, and round and round. She'll be fine.

Thank you, you really do make me feel better after being so frazzled all day. I know I worry too much, but right now I'm so peeved with h (not dh right now!) for making these plans. I think I'm happy with the idea of the PP bus, as long as she makes it on. She will also do this for the reverse direction as it will let her out right at the airport. Her sister will pick her up at the station in Providence and drop her off there on the way home. Now I can worry about their day in NYC where they will see "Wicked". You can bet I didn't make those plans!
