I'm not going to be much help here as I don't measure I just mix in these ingredients to taste then bake. I continue to use these ingredients because I get rave reviews when I bring this covered dish. beans
molasses
bourbon
balsamic
1 pound crispy crumbled bacon (yes, you read that correctly)
large diced sweet onion sauteed in bacon grease
ketchup
shot of mustard if necessary to cut the sweetness

WOW--those are some serious beans! i sure as heck would like a few bites, please! nothing there not to like!

Beverley these aren't authentic baked beans but they are a bit different and very, very tasty. Always a big hit when I serve them. Easy to boot.......

Baked Beans

1 Can kidney beans, drained
1 Can lima beans, drained
2 Cans Brown Beans (like Bush beans)
1 1/2 Cup of chili sauce
2 Tbl brown sugar
1 Tbl Dijon mustard
1 Tbl Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbl molasses
3 Slices bacon cut in half

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. In a medium baking dish, mix kidney beans,lima beans, brown beans, chili sauce, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce and molasses. Top with bacon. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, until thick and bubbly.

Note: I just use the bacon as flavouring and toss when serving. If you want the bacon in the finished dish then precook it and dice it in with the beans

1 large yellow onion (supersize:). chopped
BBQ sauce
Mustard
2 large cans beans, drained (bean of choice)
Brown sugar

Fry bacon, set aside. Pour off bacon grease, leaving a small amount in skillet. (about 2 tbsp.) Sautee the onion in bacon grease. Add bbq sauce, brown sugar and a pinch of mustard. (now I don't measure, but my family likes them sweet) This is a sauce done by taste.

Put drained beans in an oven proof dish (I use my small roaster) and pour mixture over beans, mix well. Crumble the bacon into the beans and mix again.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for one hour.

Whenever we have a summer family get-together, I am always asked to bring my beans.

These are all sounding good! I'd never really cared much for baked beans until I had some good ones on a trip to Boston. Then a month or so ago I got some excellent baked beans at Lawlers Barbecue. So now I know good ones really do exist!

Cathy, what kind of beans and how many? What ratio of bourbon? LOL

I got to thinking after I hit Submit that these probable aren't "Boston BBs".

Beverly, For the family I cook in an 8"X8" Le Creuset pan. I've been using the large can of Bush's Maple Bacon Baked Beans or Honey BB's and about 1/3 cup of bourbon. Double that for a crowd.

Baked Beans

1 48 oz. jar Great Northern Beans
1 1/2 lbs. lean pork cut into small cubes
1 tsp. salt
1 14 oz. bottle catsup
3 Tbs. prepared mustard
1 1/2 C brown sugar
1 large sweet onion chopped

Combine all ingredients; place in slow cooker. Cover and cook for 5-6 hours. Makes 10-12 servings

Here is the one I got from a friend 20-some years ago. It's the best one I have tried and my friends and family always ask me to bring them to pot-lucks!

JulieÂs Baked Beans

1lb ground beef, browned and drained
1/2lb bacon, cooked until crisp, crumbled
1T Worcestershire sauce
1/2c catsup
1/2c light molasses
1/2c brown sugar
2 medium onions, chopped
1 3lb7oz can B&M or BushÂs beans

Place all ingredients in casserole and bake one hour at 325F

OR
Place all ingredients in crockpot and cook 5-6 hours on low.
