Yesterday after seeing a video on YouTube about someone who made blueberry plant covers out of some old wedding tulle (the stuff you make the vails out of), we went to Hobby Lobby and bought a bolt of the stuff for 22 bucks. Used an online coupon for 40% off. After my wife spent 1 hour on the sewing machine, we had 2 nice, slip over covers for our 2 large bushes. They slip on/off/and lift up easily, no snagging. You should have seen the looks on the birds faces this morning. They landed on the fence and looked for the available blueberries as usual. They seemed disappointed and confused and flew away. I'm curious to see if they try and peck through the stuff, but so far so good.

Yes Hubby said it is a small driveshaft.... UPDATE......Hubbvy tried like heck to get it to run so after several days Local small engine repair got it running good for only $30 If known that he would not have wasted so much precious time..... They said was the linkage and recleaned carberator... so that like 4 time its been cleaned.... and adjusted the rpms.... I asked Hubby why he did not ask them to sharpen blade while they had it for only a day.... Duh ...cause his grinder is not here at this house.... ah well nobody is perfect esp Me.... LOL Now hope old place neighbor can find the self propelled parts.... cause in this little town. there is a guy who rebuild or finds starters... works out of his garage... nice guy. will try to post about forth coming parts... I have not tried to start yet... I am not as strong as used to be... Its heck getting old... thats why I need an electic start on this old Orange mower... the hybrid Thanks jean

How funny, Faith. I'd forgotten about the waiting room at the U0fA, also the old emerg. at the Royal Alex. And we complain now. Most of us in the Edmonton region (Sunwapta Broadcasting area) will remember Popcorn Playhouse. I was on Popcorn Playhouse when it was a ship theme, before Klondike Eric. I think it was Captain Ernie (?). Anyway, it was my fifth birthday and it is a bit of a vague memory. I remember that we were late getting there and I missed all of the "birthday" special stuff that seemed to be the main point of going on the show. How about "Kids Bids" with the O'hara auction people? Bags and bags of Old Dutch boxtops and coupons were thrown out of my parents basement because we never made it to the show and we collected for years. And "Kiddies on Kamera" - my brother is a bagpiper and was on that show many times playing for the highland dancers. Did anyone see the anniversary show for CFRN last year? It was good, but it didn't show enough of all of this old stuff! But here's a couple we all might remember across the country. How about Romper Room ( she never saw ME in the magic mirror), The Friendly Giant, Chez Helene. Gee, that kind of took up the morning and then it was lunchtime and naptime. Or time to go to playschool. I had to laugh when you mention DH and the 8 tracks. Shortly after we moved into our new house 2 years ago, I heard Steppenwolf coming from our garage. I went out and there was my DH rockin' to his tunes. He'd plugged in an old 8-track player and found all of his old 8-track tapes. My kids, although thinking he was crazy, actually appreciated the fact that their Dad still had one that worked. Yeesh - you'd think it was an old Victrola or something. LOL. Now, that was cool when your parents or grandparents had one of those that worked! I saw Heart when they were a backup act for April Wine. I went to see April Wine about 4 or 5 times. I loved their concerts. The first concert I went to was Deep Purple in 1972 and it was, I believe, the last event held at the Edmonton Gardens before they tore it down. My mother just freaked when she saw in the paper the next day that everyone used lighters or "sparklers" to ask for the encores. The Edmonton Gardens was apparently (according to my mother) the biggest fire trap in the city. Until I just started thinking about how many concerts I did actually go to, I always thought that I missed out on alot. I used to listen to my friends talking about going to see Alice Cooper and so many others and I thought I never went to any concerts. In reality, I guess I went to quite a few. Anybody ever see Cheech and Chong live? That was funny - especially after a few t---- of wacky. No, I never did that. It was all the residual smoke around me . . . honest. But, you had to see Cheech and Chong on a high in order for it to be hilarious. Wow, I had no idea what I was stirring up in my memories when we started this thread! ...

We English don't do love and romance very well (too screwed up I suppose) except for the lightweight Hugh Grant films or Barbara Cartland type of pink froth.Vee, I disagree. I think English writers have given the world some of the best romances -- Daphne of course, the Brontes, Jane Austen; and I can read Galsworthy's "The Apple Tree" over and over and cry every time (and I love the film adaptation of it called "A Summer Story"). I'm fond of several British romantic comedies, including "Getting It Right" (from Elizabeth Jane Howard's novel). That's the one with Helena Bonham Carter as the very unladylike Lady Minerva Munday, Lynn Redgrave as the seductive older woman, and Jane Horrocks as the junior hairdresser, all of whom are willing to teach poor Gavin -- a hairdresser in his thirties, still living with his parents, and still a virgin -- a thing or two. Gavin's mother cracks me up when she learns that Gavin knows a girl who has a title and is impressed even before she meets Minerva. If I thought about it longer, I know I could come up with many other English examples of love and romance. You've got to remember, Vee, that we Americans think the English are exotic. Cece, I adore the libidinous Pepys, though his Elizabeth must have found living with him sorely trying at times. I relish all his clothes descriptions, and he was very good with food, too. I've never managed to read his diary all the way through \-\- I always get sidetracked \-\- but I've dipped in and out of it for years. Norcal, I'm with you about the ballads -- one of my favorites is "Whiskey in the Jar" -- ooh, that Molly (or Jenny, in some versions) and her chamber! I'm not familiar with Nikki Grimes, but her cheek/as raw as red-brown meat...now that is descriptive. What's the poem about?
