The first turquoise-and-tan pincushion I posted about is a birthday gift for a friend. The floral-and-peach PC in my "wool" thread is a gift for another crafting friend.

This one is mine, all mine! LOL

It's made from, and filled with, material

from recycled felted wool sweaters.

Are they actually 75W, or are they equivalent to 75W incandescent? They look huge (in diameter) so I'm guessing they are actually 75W. That is pretty high. I had some violets under a 30W, maybe about 8-10 inches away, and while they grew pretty quickly - you can't believe how quickly I got new babies to pop up under those conditions - I did end up bleaching a lot of the leaves. No actual burning, but pale green-yellow leaves on everything. I've since moved a lot of those elsewhere, and some ended up on my desk under a lamp, which still has a 30W bulb in it, but it's on for less time and that one CFL bulb is lighting a lot of plants. I still think I am bleaching my Chantaspring, so I may have to move it off further to the side. I have an 85W 12-14 inches away from a streptocarpus that is doing quite well. The 85W is also being diffused by a screen, though, so it's not as powerful as it would be straight on. In my opinion, I would leave it where it is right now (11 inches, you said?), and watch them. Violets tend to be pretty tough, so you'll see whether or not they want to be closer to the lights. My 30W CFL is about 8-9 inches away from my desk violets, and the light is on about 12 hrs a day, and they are almost all blooming happily. In the right corner, inside the cake dome, you can see how yellow Chantaspring's leaves are. It should be a bright green. I'll have to do some adjusting.

Cindy, thank you, I do love a variety! Isle of Zanzibar still mesmerizes me when I see it bloom! Lisa, I've had Morrie Ott for about six years in my garden. It is one of my all time favorite mini's. Some of those pretty edges you refer to had a hard time opening this morning. Mississippi Memories being one of them. Sharon, thank you. Enchanting Esmerelda is one of those that need to be in the garden for its performance and beauty. Will always reside here! Julia, I love my neck of the woods because the dormants do well here as well as MOST of the southern breds. I feel I have the best of both worlds as far as what I can decide to grow here! I've had Cerise Masterpiece three years. It has not increased rapidly for me here. Started as a single fan, now has three fans and the blooms still are not pristeen. Hopefully it will show itself off a lot better by end of this season! dreamingdaylilies, I moved Way Past Cool to my new deer protected bed last fall, so this picture really doesn't show it in its full beauty. I'm sure it will settle in nicely tho. As far as Morrie Otte goes...I've never had a problem with Morrie here. You might be right as far as temps being too cool. Rita, one of the reasons I like looking at all your picks! You have so many things I don't that I get nothing but pure enjoyment looking at yours! @ Padola - I totally think anyone can do this it just takes planning and creativity but even if it doesn't work 100% like it did for us but you end up only doing a handful of cuts rather then the whole job isn't that worth the try? Trust me we are no experts this was my DH's and I second backsplash with the last one being a good 10 years ago...we're no pro's. For DIY'ers tile cutting is a real pain in the butt so like I said if this helps eliminate or even minimize cuts thats a bonus in my eyes. I just wanted to give everyone food for thought..thats all. @ Red Eared - thanks so much. Actually my countertop is a laminate called Butter Rum.

I was looking at pincushions online the other day....I think I saw that one...

I found one on a stand like the first ones...that is crazy quilting on top...(with ribbons and fancy stitching) and beading hanging around the sides...That's the one I plan to make for me....

I made some of the (I think it is Debbie Mumm) tea pot shaped pincushions too...They were fun.

Sorry I don't know a thing about wool stuffing...I use fiberfill...

Sheila Joyce. Thank you for the compliment, but I didn't make this one. I bought it from a craftswoman on line. She gets all the credit!

She cuts circles of felted sweater material to use as the stuffing inside this style of pincushion. I think they're stacked like pancakes inside the pretty "skin." The same woman made the turquoise and blue one I posted a couple weeks (?) ago.

Ivamae! You're right; you can bet I didn't pay near that amount for mine. I didn't pay that for all three combined; LOL.

I think any pincushion pushing $40 better come with carat-gold pins!
