Any one else???

Kids sent home early, all buses being sent out early, parents being called, all civilian personal at the Base sent home and my SIL being told not to come back to work--he works a split shift

Why?

Lots of blowing snow, temps 1 above and snow all over everywhere--cannot get car out of garage until I shovel, streets in Minot almost impassable and everything for tonight being cancelled.

Same here, cancelations, school let out early. I think they said the worst is to be Minot area to Jamestown and down. Right where I am too.
Maddies Mom is to pick her up and make the 3 hour drive back to where they live after work. I am soooo hoping she will stay up here overnight.

It depends on how much of a hybrid you have. It may be sterile. If it is fertile you should have two types of flowers - male (pollen bearing) and female (has a sticky pistil and ovary). Transfer the pollen from the male flower to the female either by removing the male and touching the pollen to the female or using a brush or a finger or a Q-tip or anything that can transfer pollen from the male to the female. In cases like this it is much easier to start new plants with stem cuttings. Cut below a node while keeping a couple of nodes above and push the stem into some moist potting mix enough to embed one node.

The iris albicans are blooming here; they're always the second (Crimson King is first). & I saw a blue re-bloomer at an office here in town. I always watch that office's garden area!

I don't get the Cooking channel, so I've never seen her show. I'm dismayed that the Food Network and HGTV sent all their how to shows to the higher priced cable package, at least, where I live that's the way it is. I never watched Pee Wee. His show was after my time, and before (I think, or after) my kid's time, or they just never got interested in it. He was on last week's episode of Top Chef, for those that are interested. Sally

Sliding quilt -any one else have this problem?

When DD was little we removed the footboard for the same reason. We bought a bed frame from the mattress store and an adaptor so that we could attach the headboard. We sold that years ago when we replaced her furniture so I can't take a photo of it. As for the quilt sliding - I've never had that problem but I guess it's possible that if the footboard and mattress were close together it could help keep it in place at the bottom. I wonder if it would help if you placed something between the down and the quilt that offered a little friction - like the cushion stuff they sell for kitchen cabinets - or even a long, narrow strip of rug pad that you placed across the bed.

We are into a grey cool day here after a warm spell. Must be in the lower 60s!

I still remember the heavy snowstorms of my youth in Illinois. Those are some of our fond memories -- especially one Christmas when our grandmother and aunt visited. They used the gas stove all day for something to do that week, and we feasted on cinnamon sticky rolls, etc.

It's a beautiful, sunny, 70Âº here today. Two days ago we had a storm come through with lots of much needed rain and loud thunder. The saying is - if it thunders in February, it will frost in April. I hope that's not true for us!

yep, here in Northeastern Montana, too. This morning woke up to slick icy roads-- then we had a couple hours of nice weather. Earlier it was in the 20's but now windy and 4 degrees. Calling for -9 tonight. We were going to town tomorrow to have our income taxes done, now we will wait another week. Montana_Jan

Oh dear, that's awful! My son has (I hope) just gotten out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, where the weather is terrible today. He is flying to Minot to visit his girlfriend who goes to school there. I guess he won't be seeing her today. Sure hope he can get there tomorrow.

You know, this doesn't make me want to move back to Canada at all! LOL I don't care if I ever see snow again. We are due to be coming back this summer (we are a military family) but we haven't heard yet.

Connie, I do hope your DS doesn't let the ex take Maddie all that way in a storm like that. It's putting her life in danger.

I'm in NY,Long Island. Yesterday it started snowing about 3 pm, DD age 19 gets out of school 3:15. At 3:30 she called to scream she'd been in a head-on car accident. Nobody hurt, Thank Goodness. Went to pick her up. All the way there my car wemt slipping and sliding. The cops had the road she was on closed, there were three accidents on that road, 17 in the town, 50 in my county. One a guy went into a tree. DD is fine but the car is not. At least I was able to drive it to a collision shop. It's in the insurance company's hands now. And I was a nervous wreck yesterday.

Snow last week, then mild and rain did for almost all of it, now some more snow around here, but quite a lot more in other areas: many school buses cancelled and schools closed around the area in recent days.

Toronto's had about a foot and a half of snow (I think) in recent days ... a few years ago they called in the troops when TO had a substantial storm and they've been kidded about it ever since.

No doubt some'll allow as how they're expecting them to do it again, any time soon.
