Starting tomorrow they are supposedly doing away with the access to the old boards (almost everyone's favorite) and only the new style will be available

Isn't that the way it always is??? As soon as you learn everything,know how to navigate it,and like it the way it is,then the powers that be ,want to change everything.Go figure!!!

I used to be on the AOL message boards (a few years ago), until we cancelled our AOL service - we had bigtime service issues with them...but I really miss the gardening boards. I remember Gypsophylia and PurNRG were always active there, but I haven't seen them here anywhere.

I was just reading all of AOL Help on " image challenging". "Why do I have to take the image challenge multiple times? If youÃ¢ÂÂre prompted to retake the image challenge multiple times a day and arenÃ¢ÂÂt able to send emails even after you clear your cache and cookies, you might have a more serious issue: A worm or virus might have infected your computer. First, we recommend you perform some basic computer hygiene, starting with running a virus scan. For downloads of reliable antivirus software, visit AOL Internet Security Central. If the virus scan comes back clean but you still donÃ¢ÂÂt pass the image challenge, check when your antivirus software was last updated. If it hasnÃ¢ÂÂt been updated within the past 29 days, try updating the software again. If youÃ¢ÂÂre not able to update the software, contact your softwareÃ¢ÂÂs vendor for further support. Next, we strongly recommend you reset the password for your AOL account to maintain the privacy and security of your account. A virus isnÃ¢ÂÂt the only reason you might have to take multiple image challenges. If you frequently send emails to a lot of people at the same time, you might be asked to pass the image challenge more than once. ItÃ¢ÂÂs also possible AOL received spam complaints from people receiving your emails. (Maybe you sent one too many pictures of cute kittens?) Hi pupwhipped. We live in an old home and when we renovated the kitchen, we purchased the individual tounge and groove beadboard for a couple of accent spots (under the breakfast bar and above the vent hood). I wanted a specific species of wood (birch) so when we stained it, it would match our cabinets. We live in a small rural town, so choices are somewhat limited. I ended up getting it at vintage woodworks online. The link is below. If it helps anyone, they have about 18 species of wood, three widths and you can order whatever lengths you want. The first message boards I ever went to were on AOL back in 1996 or 97. It was called GetO ( get organized )and there was a Backyard and Wildlife, and something about back yard garden junk. One day GetO just wasn't there any longer. A bunch of us had each other's e-mail addresses and just had an e-mail group afer that. I had to give it up when we started working 21 days in a row before getting one day off. My mailbox was staying full and I didn't have time to reply to all the e-mails. What a great bunch of women those were. The only other one I went to was the Half Century Club, but I went a few months without going there and when I did go back I didn't recognize anyone. Linda

I sure hate that. The very first message board I ever visited was an AOL "get organized " board. It was fun like this one is. One day some people couldn't get in and within a couple of days it was completely gone. A few of us women started an e-mail group and stayed in touch for years. When we first moved to the country we were on dial up. I had so much trouble getting online. When I finally did I would get bumped off before reading only a couple of e-mails. After a couple of months I finally gave up. I told them to drop me off of the e-mail list. I didn't even try to get online for a few months until we got fast access. I sure miss those ladies. They were a bunch of fun.

minnie ~ which boards are you referring to? After the get organized board went away a long time ago I never tried to go to others. Bob used to go to one for a heart by pass support group and I went to some craft boards. I thought they were all gone. I found the following link, but it doesn't seem to have much to choose from. Is this the one you were talking about?

There are loads of special interest boards like penny pinching, frugality, scrapbooking etc but I don't think they like us to post the links on here. The new format I'm talking about is the new HTML: format AOL hs forced on its members in the last year. They kept the old easy to read and use board format and we were able to access it thru a back door but that will be shut now and we will be stuck with a harder to use board All boards will be like it. Hundreds of people have left AOL because of it

The message boards will still exist, but they won't be available from the old AOL client software...only through a browser.
I've been on AOL since the early 90s,and used the dial-up access in the beginning. I used to be a board monitor.
Since AOL put it's content on the web, I access all my boards through AOL.com...and I don't have the AOL software loaded on any of my systems.

A lot of people still use the old windows or MAC client software, but AOL doesn't want to support it.

So...the boards are NOT going away.
