HELP with Kitchen Design- Hickory Cabinets, Bead Board, Country?
Comments (14)Thanks, actually I almost purchased that same light for the dining room, but instead bought another JCP chandelier for about $10 more. My kitchen & dining room are open and across from each other...would it look silly to have 2 very similar chandeliers hanging across the room from each other? I'm wanting to do a couple of pendant lights over the peninsula and maybe one over the sink, but that still leaves a light fixture for the center of my kitchen. I will also have recessed lighting, so I guess I could actually just do a ceiling fan with no light kit in the center of the room...I know what you're thinking, a ceiling fan?? But I'm extremely hot natured and I think I might really enjoy having it in the kitchen. What do you think? IF not the ceiling fan, what about a pot rack? Would that look goofy hanging in the center of the room or must you always hang it OVER something...like an island? THANKS! Comments (2)We are almost finished renovating a house with knotty pine on the lower half of the living room walls. The previous owners had painted the top a mellow gold, we replaced it with BM Grenadier Pond, a sage green. If the link doesn't work: Go the BM site, click on Personal Color Viewer, click on the photo of the mirror, choose Living Rooms and Sitting Rooms. Scroll through the sample photos until you get to the Bold Touches photo. There's a knotty pine armoir in the photo. You can play with wall color until you get one that you like against the pine. Have fun and post pictures. Here is a link that might be useful: Wall color and knotty pine...See Morebead board color dilemma!
Comments (6)ptamom, The kitchen has beadboard from floor to ceiling. The adjoining "dining room" has beadboard wainscoting with textured wall above it. If I paint the wainstcoting white to match the cabinets, and the kitchen beadboard something other than white (same color as textured wall?), will that look odd?? I'm avoiding tearing it all out, and in the process having to rip out the crown molding and baseboard, but I so desparately do not want to find 2 coordinating colors for the wainscoting and wall (ie: 2 shades of tan). I've looked at colors until I want to pull my hair out!! My counter is Key West gold which has a lot of "salmon" to it, and I'm avoiding any paint with a pink hue. I cannot figure out how to upload pics! Thank you!...See MoreNeed solution for natural tone Bead Board walls and ceilings on Victor
Comments (0)We are acquiring a Victorian cottage to reno for a guest house and will be removing paneling back to Bead Board on the ceiling and walls - in all most all rooms! I think we will loose the bright large feel of the rooms with all the darker wood tones. I want to stain or paint and have read about nightmare knots and dealings with rough spots, uneven boards and such. I want to at least have the kitchen walls lighter. Any input or experience with changes to these walls? As is pictured here. Middle pic is of ceiling boards under tiles....See Moregrannabelle
