As others have said it's hard to say without seeing pictures, but, one thing you said makes me wonder if the beadboard look will work. You mention that this is a corner. Does this mean you would only put beadboard on two walls? IMHO it needs to tie in to the surrounding areas. I don't think I've ever seen it used on just some of the walls in a space. I actually looked for this when I was remodeling my open plan basement. I really wanted to use beadboard but couldn't find a logical way to use it on some walls and not others.

I am very sorry if I made you feel stomped-on - I didn't really mean to. I must have been tired, but that's still not a good excuse. :-( (Man, it's embarrassing to be compared to the vultures on on Rate My Space. Ow. I am rebuked.) Yes, I did mean that I suggest not doing anything with the walls except hanging some properly scaled artworks on them. (And maybe painting them a different color, but that's just me. LOL) Shopping for art is so much fun too! I think once you do that, bringing in some color and "oomph", you will feel differently about the room as a whole. At least wait to make these kinds of permanent, harder-to-reverse changes while you are refining your style and plans for the room and your other "stuff", anyway, as Bronwynsmom says. And after all, you're going to need artwork anyway even if you do do this molding job, so why not look for something you love that can serve as an inspiration piece for the rest of the room? You do not have to do everything at once, although I know all too well the desire to just get it over with. :-) I have made expensive mistakes before when trying to rush things together without having an overall "vision", and if that can save someone else from throwing their hard-earned money away it's not quite so much of a waste... Hmm, this might help. Over on the kitchen forum they have something called "The Sweeby Test". This page I've linked has her (I think Sweeby's a her) original post on the subject of writing a "Mission Statement" for a room the same way you would if you were starting a business or a charity. Her post is about choosing things for kitchens, but I think it applies to every room in the house. I have found it VERY helpful.

Hey there - we did a beadboard backsplash in our kitchen and had to just end it on one wall and do something between the subway tile behind the stove and the beadboard as well. We just used a 3/4 inch piece of molding. I wasn't sure about it, but we also used fairly heavy molding at the bottom and top and the molding ended up working just fine - I actually had a smaller piece - it was 3/4 wide and half that deep (a rectangle) but we switched to 3/4 x 3/4 to have the scale go along with the heft of the molding... Here's a pic, if I can remember how to do these pictures! Here's where it just caps off the beadboard - you can see that it just sort of blends in - I tried to get it a little zoomed in! And here's the beadboard to tile transition:

The paneling is not designed to match at the 4' ends, but there is plastic molding(T shaped) available to make that joint. The long sides are designed to mate. If you decide to do that idea, I would not use the T molding, rather stagger the 4' seams and use a filler to make those seams disappear---easy emough to do when covered with paint. You could use a home made tool to scribe the filler to match the bead design. As for installing, use finish nails in the grooves of the bead pattern and the same filler to fill the nail holes.
