Appropriate pan for shallow frying

We occasionally enjoy friend okra -- I found frozen, already breaded okra at Walmart and it is great!

But,, everytime I use my non-stick pan to shallow fry it, the oil leaves a film in the pan that is difficult to get off.

Should I be using a regular SS pan for this? Just seems I would need a lot more oil to prevent it from sticking and I would hate to have that.
