Could you email the winner with your correct email address. Maybe you can cancel the payment that is pending.

I can't cancel the payment because I can't get into the account without creating it first. He could probably cancel it at this point, but then if the winners of the other auctions pay before I can email them... they'll have to cancel payments too.

Well I started to create a new account, but then realized I wouldn't be able to get the email that I need to respond to to open the account. I am unable to access my old email address.

So I've emailed the guy asked him to cancel the one payment since it is still pending and to pay me through my new email. I gave him a $2.00 discount on his jeans, so I hope this won't affect my feedback. I also did some searching on Paypal and will need to end the other 2 auctions early so that I can email the sellers with my new Paypal info. Kind of sucks because there are a lot of watchers on the one item and if I could let the auction go all the way, we might have done even better on it.

Can you just email the current high bidders and let them know that if they win you have a new email address for them to send payment to before they make the payment to the wrong one? That's what I would do instead of ending it early. Just a thought.

If you change email addresses on PayPal it's wise to keep the old one there with the new one as Primary. This way you can temporarily switch to the old one to get the pending payment and then switch back to the new addy before the other items sell. Is the old one still there?

No, I deleted the old email address and just switched over to the new one. I *wish* I had kept the old one on there as a secondary now.

Angela, I'd do that except that I have 16 watchers on the one and couldn't guess which of them would make the final bid to win (not that I know who the watchers are anyway). Paypal recommends ending the auction early and I think that is probably the best option unfortunately.

Isn't the old email address in existence? Just because you don't have it listed with eBay doen't mean it has been voided. Why can't you simply add it back to your eBay account and make it primary just long enough to collect your $$? Then leave it as a secondary and go back to the one you're using now?

The old email address isn't in existance now (it was an Earthlink one and I no longer have Earthlink). I don't think they would just let me add an address without sending me an email to "approve it" first and make sure it was a valid address that belonged to me. I know when I switched to the new email, I had to validate it by replying to an email before it became my primary.

If you do not have access to the email account any longer, the buyers will have to Cancel their payment on the PayPal site. If the buyer does not cancel their payment, it will sit Unclaimed for 30 days then be refunded by PayPal.

You can send the buyer an invoice from the PayPal site like this -

1. Click the Request Money tab.
2. Click the Create a Money Request subtab.
3. Enter the required information.
4. Click Continue.
5. Review the information and click Request Money.

Mark the payment as an eBay item for the Payment Type.

Buyers are not required to pay a different email address other than the one associated/linked with the eBay listing, and can report a seller for Non-Performance to eBay. Marking the item as an eBay purchase/item also ensures the buyer has PayPal Buyer Protection, and the buyer might be more willing to pay again & it needs to be marked properly.

If the buyer wants to pay for the item from their PayPal account, the buyer can click on the Send Money > Pay Anyone subtab and fill in your correct email address.

The buyer needs to mark the payment as an eBay item and a box appears asking for their eBay ID name and the auction/item number.

I hope the 2 auctions I need to end early will work out as well. I'm not sure how I'd feel getting an email saying I needed to send the money to a different address. I'm probably looking like a scam artist to these people!

This happens more often than you think and you won't look like a scam artist if you send a nicely worded email explaining what happened.
BUT.....
Even if you can't revise your auctions you can add a footnote to the description explaining you have an email problem and you will contact the winning bidder with the correct information. This way they know for sure you're legit because it's the seller talking. Then the buyer can "send money" to your correct/current email address that you will be sending them.

That happened to me, I had the buyer cancel his payment and use my current email address.

Monablair - I was just a step ahead of you! I did notice I could add more to the description (although in a seperate box) and did so in LARGE red letters! lol I guess I will go ahead and let the auction finish as scheduled and just hope the buyer reads the new addition. Thanks for your help.

That's why I always use a web email address for things I'm getting payments for, so I don't lose my ISP provider and lose my account too. Learned that one the hard way.
