Sharon, I don't think they've hatched yet. Right next to the cam is a box that has the dates they laid them and updates. I think they'll post when they hatch. They did on this other eagle cam I'm watching. Two out of three eggs have hatched on that one and there is alot of activity today. The male keeps coming to switch and the female isn't giving it up. LOL.. maybe last one is about to hatch. This is a California nest. The Ca site says the eggs take about 35 days to hatch so the Virginia one might be a bit more before they hatch. Certainly worth checking them out. I really look forward to the Va one because of how close the cam is compared to the Ca one. Here is a link that might be useful: TurtleBay eagle watch

Yes, it was sad that they had to be removed but IMO, it was the right thing. The bald eagle is just beginning to make a strong comeback in the area so why would anyone want to take the chance to have them killed off by being sucked into an airplane engine or splattered on the windshield? In April 2011, 2 were killed, just a couple of weeks apart. There were 2 other eagle strikes as well, but they were unconfirmed. The pilots said they were eagles but the birds were not recovered in order to make it official. The eagles were nesting at Norfolk Botanical Gardens. At the entrance of the NBG, there is a hill. Climb that hill and you can look out over the airport runways. A lot of bird strikes are reported at Norfolk International. It's almost scary. With the NBG next door, there are many different types of large birds that make their home there.

Not sure which of the few recent ones Ron's referring to, but the one at the following link has 2 babies already hatched (on or around 1/9, iirc) and are SOOOO cute! You can only occasionally see a head and beak pop up, but they are precious! (and of course, only in the daylight, lol!) I've watched the parents feed them a few times over the last few days. This particular site is from the city I live in, they put construction on hold for quite a while, iirc, so as not to disturb the parents.
