I made a Calzopizza. Tut, -Take a look

LouÂs Calzopizza - Tutorial

For this Pizza I used a lightly oiled , 11x16 Cookie Tin,

Sicilian size.

It is not a Stuffed Crust Pizza, it's a larger crust.

Rolled the dough out to about 3/16 inch thickness and

3 inches larger than the Tin , all around.

Then laid it over the Tin.

Next I laid all the goodies around the inside perimeter of the Tin.

On the far side is simmered Broccoli Stir Fries w Shrimp on top.

In Forefront is cut Cooked Salami and Pepperoni w pieces of Cheese on top.

Left side is Cooked Sausage. Right side is cut up Meatballs.

I dribbled some Spaghetti Sauce all around.

Then I folded the dough that was on the outside of the Tin,

over all the goodies and into the center of the pizza, and

pressed the edges down to seal it.

Next I spooned the Sauce over the Dough ( I used my Spaghetti Sauce ) and

sprinkled on the shredded Provolone and Cheddar cheese mixture,

all ready for the oven.

Baked it at 400 Degrees for about 30 minutes. Took it out of the Pan and onto the Pizza Stone, for the last 15 minutes.

Looks fabulous, I want it now. How do you go about not tearing the crust when laying over the pan?

Here's to Cheers to Trudi! I've been wintersowing for about 7 years now, and it's become a way of life. I plan vacations around bed preparation and planting-out season. I've been through a divorce, multiple job changes, new puppies, kids getting older, relocation, etc. But the gardening is a constant and wintersowing makes it year-round, inexpensive, and just plain fun. Upnort, I do put the year on the tags, along with name and size. The ones in these pictures aren't tagged with anything but the name yet and that's on a flimsy plastic tag that I know may not make it through the winter. I've got to get out there and 1) tag them better and 2) draw a map of what's where in case the tags get moved. All that plus I still have 30-40 plants (not hosta) to get in the ground before snowfall. Which is coming way too fast! I'm 'on call' for work this coming weekend and have to stay around home because my cell phone doesn't have coverage a lot of places around here, so our goal this weekend is to get the rest of the garden IN THE GROUND!!! Wish us luck :-) Maryann, you are right! That is definitely not Moon Waves. It's not Moon Struck either, as I've never owned one. I did have Moon Waves. I received it in a trade a year and a half ago. I can only think that somehow the tags got mixed up and then I brought the wrong tag along with one of the hostas that I moved from Minnesota. What a disappointment. My guess is that I'll never figure out which of the 200+ plants I thought I didn't bring to MI is actually here with me in place of Moon Waves. But I'm awfully glad you caught it for me. Thank you! June, my Xanadu hasn't been in the ground all that long. I'll cross my fingers that it holds up next season and still looks this good late in the season. Lila, I'm absolutely loving the Deep Blue Sea too! This is the first year I've had one and I am amazed at how perfect it has looked, and still looks, even this late in the season. I've never been a fan of rugose leaves on hosta, but find myself more and more drawn to them this past season. Paradigm is another example of a rugose hosta that is really looking great as the season goes on. I think next year, there may be a couple more :-) And blues (like DBS) are always a beautiful contrast to other hostas as well as a whole variety of other plants.

Those are good choices. I do have a few comments. I don't have Golden Gate but my sister does. To my eye it looks more similar to Sunny Delight or Sun Power. It is upright and wavy. It is a very beautiful plant. King Tut was a standout for me this year. I've had it since 2009 but aparently it's been in the wrong spot. I now know it needs sun to color. It was in a place with morning sun and always stayed kind of blaa and greenish. I moved it to a west facing hot spot. It was the plant that knocked me out. It seemed to glow from within. It is domed shaped vs Golden Gate's upright look. Unfortunately I will have to move it again next year. It loved the sun but later in the summer bleached to almost white so location is probably the key to this one's best location. You asked about placement. That is an individual choice. I think what looks good to you will work. There are places I have reverses of the same plant to show off similarity and contrast. Abiqua Recluse with Paradigm and Academy Blushing Recluse for instance. I also have Satisfaction next to Summer Serenade. When I moved King Tut this year I put a duplicate of Grand Prize in its place in the shadier garden. Grand Prize grows so well and in the shade keeps the yellow border. I realized what a difference the smaller plant made in that garden. King Tut was the same basic size as most of the hostas around it. The smaller Grand Prize showed everybody up much better. I'm now conscious of keeping from having a 'sea' of similar sized hostas where they all blend together. Again, it's just a matter of personal preference. Go with what pleases you.

I can vouch for the pizza sauce. I wasn't sure about it either, but on a pizza it tastes divine! That sauce is an amazing mix!

I roll the dough out; on my worktop, to the right size,
dust a little flour on it and
roll it up on the rolling pin, then roll it out over the
Cookie tin.

I also use my " Macaroni Stick " which is better.
It is an 1 1/4 inch dowel 24 inches long.
All your Grandmothers and Great Grandmom's had one.

Here is Lou's Pizza sauce recipe:

Pizza Sauce and Spaghetti Sauce ( Gravy )

You can use canned tomatoes but make sure they are Italian or a deep red color. Some choices are Contadina , Red Pack , HuntÂs , All Red, = Tutto Rosso, Chento

Pizza Sauce

1 Large can of Tomato Puree and Crushed Tomatoes
I use Powdered Spices now, and get the same results
1 level teaspoon Garlic pwd.
(add more later to taste)
1 tablespn. of onion powder. 1 teasp. Salt.
3 teasp. Sugar ( add more if it tastes too acidy ).
An Italian pinch of pwd.cloves.
3/4 teasp. Oregano ( or to taste ) it is strong.
1 teaspoon of Parsley,
1/2 teasp. basil.
1/4 teasp. black pepper.
Â½ teaspoon + of ( Chicken flavored Soup Base )
Large handful of Parmasan Cheese, when done , after 1/2 hour.
Continue for Spaghetti Sauce

This recipe can be used for Spagetti Sauce ( maybe you would want to cut down on the Oregano ) also just add a can of Tomatoe Paste and water to thin a little , if it is too thick it will burn easily. It will thicken as it cooks.
Â½ cup of fine chopped Onion.
And 3 bay leaves . Don't forget the Chicken flavored Soup Base. Add uncooked Meatballs, Sausage and Chicken Thighs, when you start cooking. (cook at least 1 Â½ to 2 hours ) Take the chicken out when it is done. ( About 1 hour ) Add the Parmasan Cheese after the sauce is cooked & stir
ALSO !!! season to your own taste. Add more or less of what you like.

My favorite part is how you mitered the corners. Or maybe I pay too much attention to tiny details.

I froze the Pizza, to save it for my Daughters, when they come up, BUT !!!
I took it out today and cut of the small end to make 2 slices. One for me and one for a friend.
He couldn't wait for it to Thaw and put it in the Micro.

I waited at least 2 minutes and did the same thing.

I had an end with the Brocolli Stir Fries and Shrimp.

It was Goooooooooooooooooddd !!!!!

The only thing I did differently , I put the Cheese
topping on when I put it in the oven.

Usually I put it in the oven with just the Sauce, for about 10 minutes.
Then I put the Cheese Topping on and finish baking.

The Cheese wqs slightly overcooked BUT !!!

There used to be a restaurant in town that did your toppings rolled into the crust trick. Their pizzas were phenomenal. Basically an adult could eat one to two slices because the crust was so filling. Plus they had a waiter who sang beautifully. Is there anything more corny or comfortable than a checkered tablecloth Italian place with a waiter singing Italian opera, grandma working in the open kitchen and grandpa sitting on a stool watching her work? I think not. I miss that place.

Story was the local mafioso wouldn't eat the pizza crusts, which made the owner mad because that was the best part. He had to roll toppings into the crust to get them to eat it. :)
