thanks mrslovett...desiretoinspire is great. have been downloading pics from it for the last hour and a half (oops)... since i posted a few weeks ago we've narrowed down choices a bit. we're going w/ polished white shimmery marble tiles (i think they're called crystal white): 5/8" square on the floor and probably 12" on tub wall (to avoid grout lines, though the little tiles seem more shimmery somehow). PAint will be some ice cream parlor pink or aqua blue in all likelihood. will take your advice about mirrors, furniture and hand shower. any other ideas or inspiration pics always welcome.

Lunch? Nah, we eat at 1 p.m. then pick at leftovers all day! I have coffee for breakfast so I don't miss out on any of the Thanksgiving dinner goodies but I always have cheese and crackers, some of that veggie pizza made with crescent roll dough that Amanda loves, olives and pickles, so people can snack if they are hungry before dinner. Oh, yeah, wine. LOL Elery likes wine with his meal, but I have a bottle of ice wine that we'll have as dessert or after dessert or later or something. (grin) I also have a bottle of "Naughty Red", a very dry red wine that was a wedding gift, maybe later after everyone is gone Elery and I will drink that. Well, he'll drink it, I'll have a glass that I'll sip because I still haven't learned to like dry/red wine. I'm told it's an acquired taste and I just haven't acquired it yet! Annie

As to furniture placement, create zones -- one part for sleeping and dressing and the other part for your school work and leisure activities. Red for a wall can be a difficult idea to sell to homeowners. So is purple. You might promise to repaint the red accent wall white or another color just before the house is put up for sale. Red might also be a selling point if you're working toward a theme that makes red important enough for it to be a wall rather than just red accessories -- for instance a red/white/blue patriotic theme. Luckily for you there are a lot of different shades of blue -- very light to very dark. You could choose blue denim -- new dark blue or lighter old faded - or a bold cobalt blue. Before deciding, consider an overall theme for your room. Would you want flower garden or beach or mountains or patriotic or something else. That can help you choose the shade of blue. Also, you can still add red on your wall another way. Fabric: You could hang a red rug or red bedding such as a quilt or comforter from eye hooks attached to the very top of the wall next to the ceiling where there will be a top wall plate of wood boards to hold the weight. Wood: Is anyone in your household DIY inclined? Does anyone in your home shop thrift stores where you might find shelving (such as Habitat for Humanity Restore Stores) at a budget price?
