What's your favorite dessert?

My sweet tooth is driving me crazy today. I'd really like a good dessert about now if I didn't have to make it. What would you have for dessert if it would be magically in front of you?

I'd answer, but I have to think about it.

Either an apple pie, or apple cobbler. I don't have any apples, otherwise I'd be making a cobbler.

I do like Sharp Provolone with Ritz crackers but that is not a dessert. - - - - - - - - - - - - Hereis an Apple Dip Original Recipe Yield 12 Servings Ingredients 1/2 cup PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese Spread 1/4 cup maple syrup 1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping Directions 1.Beat cream cheese spread and syrup with whisk until well blended. 2.Stir in Cool Whip. Put the sliced Apples around the edge for dipping. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - BLUEBERRY DESSERT 2 env. Dream Whip 2 sm. pkgs. (8 oz.) Philadelphia cream cheese 1 tbsp. milk 1/2 c. powdered sugar Graham cracker crust pie crust (either pre-made or scratch) 1 can blueberry pie filling (or other pie filling) Cream Philadelphia cream cheese, milk and powdered sugar until smooth with a fork. I guess Godiva Chocolates are my favorite candy for the occasional chocolate fix. Sees Candy has gone way downhill too except for a few classic items. Their stores are full of candy bar type stuff and they got rid of Sugar Sticks!!!. Now, they still make them because they are still put in the boxes for holidays. But you can't buy them alone anymore. You have to buy a box of stuff you don't want to get 2 or 3 of them. I like Russell Stover candy at the drugstore. All my old favorites have been reformulated or changed. UNO bars are no longer much different from a Three Muskateer. Annabel took the middle layer of chocolate out the Rocky Road bar. Hershey's has recently change their chocolate Kiss formula also. Probably think we won't notice by introducing all the silly different varieties but people did. Even Lifesavers messed up their flavors. It will be just like what happened to hamburgers *sigh*. A whole generation of kids grew up on McD's so they think In and Out or Sonic are something special. LOL I still like Swedish Fish. But only the original red ones. The multi-colored ones are just wrong.

Since we will be spending Christmas Eve with friends this year, I will be makking the following. It has been a hit every time I made it! Alexa CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY GANACHE CAKE This pull-out-all-the-stops cake for special occasions may be prepared in steps in advance and glazes on the day it is to be served. For genoise 1/3 cup sifted unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder such as Droste (sift before measuring) 1/3 cup all-purpose flour 1/3 cup cornstarch a pinch baking soda 3 large whole eggs 3 large egg yolks 2/3 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt For syrup 1/3 cup water 1/3 cup sugar 1/3 cup raspberry liqueur such as Chambord For ganache 1 1/4 cups heavy cream 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 2 tablespoons light corn syrup 1 pound semisweet or bittersweet chocolate (not unsweetened), chopped coarse 1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam For glaze 1 cup heavy cream 8 ounces semisweet or bittersweet chocolate (not unsweetened), chopped coarse Garnish: fresh raspberries Make genoise: Preheat oven to 350F. Butter an 9-inch round cake pan (about 2 inches deep) and line bottom with a round of parchment paper or foil. In a small bowl whisk together cocoa powder, flour, cornstarch, and baking soda. In a metal bowl whisk together whole eggs, yolk, sugar, and salt until combined. Set mixture over a saucepan of simmering water and continue to whisk until lukewarm. Remove bowl from heat and with an electric mixer beat mixture at high speed until it has cooled and doubled in volume. Sift one third cocoa mixture over egg mixture and fold in. Sift and fold in remaining cocoa mixture, half at a time, in same manner. Pour batter into pan and smooth top. Bake genoise in middle of oven for 30 minutes, or until it is firm to the touch and pulls away slightly from side of pan. Invert genoise onto a rack and immediately invert onto another rack to cool right side up. Genoise may be wrapped in plastic wrap and chilled 1 week or frozen 1 month. Thaw genoise before assembling cake. Make syrup: In a small saucepan bring water and sugar to a boil over moderately low heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved. Cool syrup and stir in liqueur. Syrup may be made 1 week ahead and chilled, covered. Make ganache: In a saucepan bring cream, butter, and corn syrup to a boil over moderate heat and remove pan from heat. Add chocolate, swirling pan to submerge chocolate in hot mixture, and let stand 3 minutes. Whisk ganache until smooth and transfer to a bowl. Chill ganache, covered, at least 2 hours and up to 3 days. Assemble cake: Let ganache stand at room temperature until slightly softened and pliable but still cool. With a whisk or electric mixer beat ganache just until light and fluffy. Remove parchment paper from genoise and with a long serrated knife cut cake horizontally into 3 rounds. Invert top layer of genoise onto a springform pan base or a 9-inch cardboard round and brush with one third syrup. Spread layer with half of jam and spread one third ganache over jam. Top ganache with middle layer of genoise and repeat layering of syrup, jam, and ganache. Top with third layer of genoise, smooth-side up, and brush with remaining syrup. Spread top and side of cake with remaining ganache. Chill cake until ganache is set, about 30 minutes. Cake may be assembled ahead, wrapped in plastic wrap, and chilled 5 days or frozen 1 month. Thaw cake before proceeding. Make glaze: In a saucepan bring cream to a boil and remove pan from heat. Add chocolate, swirling pan to submerge chocolate in hot cream, and let stand 2 minutes. Whisk glaze until smooth and pour through a sieve set over a bowl. Cool glaze to room temperature. With cake on a rack set over a pan (to catch drips) pour glaze through sieve onto center of cake. Quickly spread glaze evenly over top and sides of cake with a long, narrow, metal spatula. Let cake stand until glaze is set, about 5 minutes. Garnish cake with raspberries and keep at cool room temperature until ready to serve. Gourmet February 1997

My fruit pizza recipe includes the directions to remove the crust from the oven and to press down on the cookie all around the pizza pan with a flat bottomed tumbler or custard cup, leaving an edge of 1/2 inch to hold in the filling. The cookie is nice and firm that way. APPLE OR PEACH COBBLER Mix: 5 cups peeled, tart apples or ripe peaches (about 6 fruits or 1 1/2 pounds) 3/4 c sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 c water for apples only. Peaches are juicy enough 2 Tbsp flour 1/4 tsp salt 1/8 tsp almond extract for peaches as well as vanilla Turn into an 8 x 8 baking dish. Dot with 2 Tbsp butter. Make batter: Combine and beat with wooden spoon till smooth-- 1/2 c flour 1/2 c sugar 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 2 Tbsp softened butter 1 egg, slightly beaten Spoon thin dabs of batter evenly over the top of the apples or peaches. There will be gaps and it won't look perfect. Bake in a preheated 375 oven for 40 minutes or until the top is nicely browned all over. Serve warm or room temperature either plain or with whipped cream or ice cream. Serves 6-8. I just made this cobbler with my daughter who had some peaches that were not particularly flavorful to use up. I had forgotten how yummy this recipe is, but she had not. It is one of her favorites. The easiest, tastiest pie in the world--
CHERRY CREAM PIE

1 graham cracker crust (9")
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 1/3 c. (15 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
1/3 c. fresh or bottled lemon juice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can (1 lb. 6 oz.) prepared cherry pie filling

Soften cream cheese to room temperature. Whip until fluffy.

Gradually add sweetened condensed milk (you must use condensed milk) while continuing to beat until well blended.

Add lemon juice and vanilla; blend well.

Pour into crust. Chill 2-3 hours before garnishing top of pie with chilled cherry pie filling.

I just made a sugar free peach / blueberry cobbler for Larry... I managed a small taste.. and it is delish !! I may have some later this evening..

As I have said before only two kinds of pie, hot and cold. Really pie is my favorite dessert. Butterscotch meringue pie, coconut cream pie with meringue, Hoosier sugar cream pie. I could just go on and on though. :)

A German chocolate cake made entirely from scratch would be my first choice. Second would be a good coconut cream pie.

anything chocolate is a GREAT option. At the moment I am eating Braums Chocolate Chunk Cheesecake ice cream. YUMM!

If I would be in Germany I would have a Granatsplitter! Those are just AWESOME!

I also love the Blackforest cake, made from scratch of course... or again, from a bakery in Germany.

Apple pie or pound cake, for me, don't care for frosting/icing. If I had to choose one more it would probably be creme brulee.

I would love some of my home made blackberry cobbler with fresh picked blackberries.

I also love a death by chocolate fudge cake with creamy chocolate icing.
However none of them are diabetic friendly.

I haven't read any of the above answers, because it was hard enough coming up with only one answer. I know if I read your favorites, I'd say, "Oh I forgot about THAT!"

I guess my favorite is strawberry pie. Piled high with whipped cream, of course.

It was a hard choice because I just love banana cream pie--and black raspberry pie (which I haven't had since I was a kid). I know I just about drool every time Sue mentions making one, though.

Freshly baked ollalaberry pie.....homemade crust with lard and butter and freshly picked berries.
With ice cream on the side.
Or a piece of apple cider pound cake.......best cake I ever made.

Homemade, made from scratch, Chocolate meringue pie.

Haven't made one for a long time.

Although, RC's home made blackberry cobbler with fresh picked blackberries sure takes me 'way back to when I was growing up and I helped pick the blackberries and Mama made the cobbler.

Carol - when is ollalaberry season? I'm coming down. You will bake me a pie. :-D

Then we will waddle down the beach to burn it off.

I like fruity sweets over anything chocolate. Anything lemon and I'm there.

Favorite is cheesecake but it has to be to be tall, "dry" and plain, preferably crustless or with a pastry crust. No graham cracker crumbs, no fruit toppings or sour creme topping and none of that over creamy or worse yet gloppy,slimey cheese pie stuff.
