I just came across this thread as I am now planning a kitchen with Servodrive on all drawers. I have been using the servodrive on garbage drawers for three years now and would not go without it. The unit another posted that is at IKEA is actually the BLUM item simply branded as "Utrusta" for IKEA. For my install it cost much less. Very simple to install if you have access to a power outlet. An interesting aspect of the Servo Drive is that it gives it's kick whenever the position of the drawer is disturbed, normally by pushing with your knee, but, it also reacts to a slight pull so it will act as an assist. Very nice in the case of a heavy drawer. I went with the BLUM TIP-ON system for another kitchen recently and have been very disappointed. The mechanism is a wonder of engineeriing and design but alas the way it works is annoying. With both the Servo Drive and the Tip-On, make no mistake, you will experience unintentional openings. The difference is that with the Tip-On the drawer must be "thown" closed with just the right force to overcome the spring and reload the mechanism. The Servo Drive closes just like a normal self closing drawer, much less annoying. I have two trash drawers, the cullery drawer and the plate drawer on Servo Drive. You can't imagine how often I find myself standing in front of one of the other drawers pushing it and wondering why it isn't opening. After a few tries I figure it out but have forgotten what I was looking for. Seriously though, don't even consider a mix of Servo and Tip-On unless you want to end up in the looney bin and as for our Miele dishwasher that you must "knock" to open, that's another bit of madness. In closing, Servo Drive is an absolute pleasure for the trash drawer. You probably have power right beside it under the sink. Get it at IKEA

I love both of my servo drive (Ikea utrusta) trashcans, one beside the prep sink and the other under the clean-up sink. It was a lot of work and adjustment getting them in, and they aren't as sensitive as they probably could be - but perhaps that is for the best, as they don't open unless we want them to. My contractor didn't really think through the design logistics carefully, it was his first experience with these, and the cabinet guys had a steep learning curve. The cans are smaller than I would've preferred, but I think that is poor design/planning and not a shortcoming of the servo unit which is strong enough to push open the drawer with one recycling and one trash can.

Try this web page. you should be able to locate a local Blum distributor from here. After looking at the videos for a second time, I think the servo drive and the trash unit are both Blum and work together. you would have to figure out if you can do a retrofit with your unit. The distributor should be helpful but then it would be appropriate to purchase from him as well. I don't know of any online sources. I purchased though Mckillican (our local distributor). I would ask how much for a pull out trash cabinet without the servo drive. The servo-drive itself costs something like $300. The only thing that’s a bit tricky about installing it is getting the holes drilled in the bottom where you install the unit, but it comes with a template to do that. When you’re ready to install, I’d look for a YouTube video.
