I've been thinking of you and was wondering if things seem to be smoothing out a bit for you, your mom and everyone.

I haven't seen you post in a few days, and hope all is going well. Please update us all.

Hi Sue, thank you for asking how we're doing.
Saw Mom last Thursday, stayed an hour and spent the entire time on the phone with various gov't departments changing contact details (needed to do with my Mom). Decided I will do what I can when I visit for her but make sure once the administrative stuff is done, I will spend the time 'visiting' with her. Next visit a little more admin stuff and I am going to cut her hair for her (I can do this). I'm a little scare getting a stranger to come to the house when she is alone to do this.

Overall, Mom looks happy, enjoys her grandsons, walking a little more than she did here and she is also enjoying sitting at a family table for her meals. It appears this whole situation is going to work out for now. Added benefit - no carpeting - her breathing is improving (COPD).

Back at home, I'm feeling relaxed, not jumping up everytime my Mom moved. Enjoying the peace. Slowly working on a corner at a time purging junk, sorting stuff and trying to clear out so I can feel better at home. Too much clutter. Her bedroom is still full with her furniture and I'm leaving that for now.

Starting planting flower seeds and have them under my new 'used' grow light stand, planning my landscaping projects this summer (continuation from last summer). Ordered some gardening books - carrots love tomatoes / the new square foot gardening / how to grow more vegetables. It's better than prozac!

Working on maintaining regular hours, a routine. Thinking about temping again but not pushing it. Saw my doctor last week after burning off yet more steam and she said it may take a couple of weeks to get into my own routine.

One day at a time. I'm working on it. Trying to look ahead at positive actions instead of dwelling on irritations that I have no control over.

That's it at the moment. Not firing on all pistons yet. Do a bit, sit a bit.

Cheers Sue,
Hoping to return more often and yak, I'm getting side tracked with the house right now.

You GO girl!!!! That's such good news! I think you've done an outstanding job at changing things around for EVERYONE'S benefit. Gardening IS better than Prozac - I have some cinnamon basil seeds left from last year, had a bumper crop! Let me send you some? They smell delish... No pressure though, you don't even have to respond, I'll just know you don't want any if I don't hear from you - Ok? This has turned into such a happy 'ending', so to speak... Doin' the happy dance!! Nancy

Oh yeah, ((((Peggy)))), in case you're still needing hugs...

I recentally had a bit of an argument with the person at my post there is information on the previously linked thread about that in the end the person let it go through with correct postage on it only because I knew the regulations better then he did Please do not be afraid to argue with them if they do not know the correct procedure there is also a cutout that they can use to determine if it's a large envelope standard envelope or parcel ask them about this cut out ask them to use it and if they don't have it ask them about a ruler Or if you are like me and have an iPhone perhaps an iPod touch would work? I have not tested in aeroplane mode or my touch but there is a USPS app that is free with all the correct pricing I would think they would have one for android is devices as well perhaps that could be used to further you're argument? I have yet to try this tactic though

Heather-Welcome Back! Your son sounds sweet. Let him have a garden all his own, maybe some Sunflowers. Another good garden for a kid is a "salad garden" from seeds. let him plant a row of lettuce and one of radishes. He'll have an edible crop by June, and you can help him make a simple salad dressing, oil vinegar, water, salt pepper and sugar to taste.

I spent the day in the public garden I tend working on the last part that I am renewing. What was astonishing was the number of bulbs I dug up ( and put back) as well as the thousands of grape hyacinths. I have been dividing and moving plants today in anticipation of the rain (it just started)since I have no access to water there. Some of them I had underestimated like the Russian sage, so I moved them into sort of a hedge configuration. Also put in perennial chrysanthemums hoping that I can harvest some divisions next year to spread around. Put in orange tiger lilies as an experiment. Actually I divide mined and found twenty bulbs which I had no room for at home and so planted 12 of them there. Interestingly enough this garden is at the edge of a forest full of deer as well as fox and coyote wild turkeysgroundhogs, rabbits etc but the deer have never bothered the garden. They spent a great deal of time trying to get into the fenced vegetable garden there. I hope my luck holds

Thanks Eloise. The surgery is actually firmly scheduled, by the doctor's office, but they have to send paperwork to Workers Comp and they evidently, as of last Thursday, haven't done it. I'm going to call tomorrow, and if it isn't there, I'm going to call the Dr.'s office and tell them that I expect it Fed Ex'd overnight air, and if it isn't there by Wednesday, I will change doctors. It's unacceptable the way that doctor's staff is. I changed my phone number MONTHS ago, called them and gave them the new one, then checked to make sure it was changed when I went for my next visit, and then they said they didn't have my number, and so we missed a vital communication. I can't understand how they could be so slack, and his patients haven't dumped him yet. I'm sure some have. He's a great doctor, but his staff leaves much to be desired. Kay, unfortunately, the plants I grow, at least most of them, won't grow in the panhandle. Mine are mostly tropicals and subtropicals, and you're going to be in a colder place. Yes, it gets VERY cold in the panhandle. No snow or anything, but temps below freezing, for sure. Sorry about that :(. But thanks for the offer!

hey peg...if you're interested in the square foot gardening, check this author out...he used to have the best show on pbs...his ideas were always to help you, and not strain the back doing it, lol...he'd take these (can't remember for sure) about 8 ft square plots divide them into 4 sections and grow something different in each corner...the size was made so you never had to lean in very far while caring for the plants...

Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=blended&field-keywords=square%20foot%20gardner&results-process=default&dispatch=search/ref=pd_sl_ya_tops-1_blended_39025846_1&results-process=default
