Whitecat8 Ive been growing in terrariums 7-8 yrs. now and I have them closed off to air. The only new air they get is when I open them to check a plant or to water. Watering is needed usually every 2-3 months this way. A couple I have going need a bit of water only once a year. My orchids and Hoya's I grow this way love it. I have 18 terrariums going at this time. The teardrop ornaments have a 2 inch round opening so unless the opening is covered with saran wrap it would have air flow. Ive eyed the Den. toressae several times and its def. on my "gotta have cause I can't live without" list! There's a few others on my list of course and as soon as Oklahoma sees Spring I'll be getting a nice order out to Andy. I mainly grow mini and micro mini orchids. I met Andy at an orchid show in TX. and he is a very nice guy and full of info! It was nice to hand pick my orchids and see some he had just got in and hadn't put on his site yet.,,,,Debbie

I spent the day in the public garden I tend working on the last part that I am renewing. What was astonishing was the number of bulbs I dug up ( and put back) as well as the thousands of grape hyacinths. I have been dividing and moving plants today in anticipation of the rain (it just started)since I have no access to water there. Some of them I had underestimated like the Russian sage, so I moved them into sort of a hedge configuration. Also put in perennial chrysanthemums hoping that I can harvest some divisions next year to spread around. Put in orange tiger lilies as an experiment. Actually I divide mined and found twenty bulbs which I had no room for at home and so planted 12 of them there. Interestingly enough this garden is at the edge of a forest full of deer as well as fox and coyote wild turkeysgroundhogs, rabbits etc but the deer have never bothered the garden. They spent a great deal of time trying to get into the fenced vegetable garden there. I hope my luck holds

oakleif, Oh no,! Don't say that! My page is outdated and somewhere in that changeover that GW did, they lost all my links! So now it doesn't make since and I'd have to really look to dig to see if I even have a copy anywhere... Sigh! I pretty much hang out in the Vegetable Forum. What happened when GW changed over anyway? I missed what sounds like was a pretty big mess. As for a swap... how about meeting out at the Nathaniel Greene park in Springfield on either of these days? Sunday, April 22 at Noon-? (Earth Day appropriately enough) Sunday, May 6 at Noon-? We can vote on a day and narrow it down to a pavillion, probably the one on the North side of the park that has a parking lot somewhat close to it. Not sure if they have to be reserved. You'd definitely have to bring a chair. Everyone can "bring a dish" get plants potted up, plan trades (wait for me! my plants are barely up yet!) It's also just a few yards away from the MG Demonstration Gardens so eveyone can mill around at their leisure. If you have extra pots or gardening tools you no longer need, you can drop them off so the MG volunteers can use them for the gardens to it might be a good time to do some spring cleaning. But we can work on details later. It's been a while since I've seen you guys... what d'ya think? Sound like a plan? Let's start voting on a date!

Hi Sue, thank you for asking how we're doing. Saw Mom last Thursday, stayed an hour and spent the entire time on the phone with various gov't departments changing contact details (needed to do with my Mom). Decided I will do what I can when I visit for her but make sure once the administrative stuff is done, I will spend the time 'visiting' with her. Next visit a little more admin stuff and I am going to cut her hair for her (I can do this). I'm a little scare getting a stranger to come to the house when she is alone to do this. Overall, Mom looks happy, enjoys her grandsons, walking a little more than she did here and she is also enjoying sitting at a family table for her meals. It appears this whole situation is going to work out for now. Added benefit - no carpeting - her breathing is improving (COPD). Back at home, I'm feeling relaxed, not jumping up everytime my Mom moved. Enjoying the peace. Slowly working on a corner at a time purging junk, sorting stuff and trying to clear out so I can feel better at home. Too much clutter. Her bedroom is still full with her furniture and I'm leaving that for now. Starting planting flower seeds and have them under my new 'used' grow light stand, planning my landscaping projects this summer (continuation from last summer). Ordered some gardening books - carrots love tomatoes / the new square foot gardening / how to grow more vegetables. It's better than prozac! Working on maintaining regular hours, a routine. Thinking about temping again but not pushing it. Saw my doctor last week after burning off yet more steam and she said it may take a couple of weeks to get into my own routine. One day at a time. I'm working on it. Trying to look ahead at positive actions instead of dwelling on irritations that I have no control over. That's it at the moment. Not firing on all pistons yet.
