sweet corn???

I'm planning on freezing some sweet corn whole (corn on the cob). I know you "blanch" before freezing. But..the research I have done says to put the corn into boiling water for 10 to 11 minutes (depending on the size of the ear). Well, to me that isn't blanching..that would "cook" it....I thought blanching was getting something hot in a hurry and then cooling it down in ice water. Anyone here try freezing corn on the cob?
