OT - Do those coupon sites actually work??

I am not spamming. I joined a Yahoo coupon swap group, and often I get a similar email. The latest one is for coupon explosion. They say something like $314.00 worth of grocery's for $33.00!! Sounds way too good to be true. I guess you buy membership, or a coupon book, for $20.00 and then you receive manufacturer's coupons in the mail. Has anyone ever joined one of these sites, and had any success?? I'd love to save some money, but don't want to be had. Thanks :) Christy

You can get most coupons for free online..why would you pay for them.
Go to some of your favorite products direct sites..often they will allow you atleast one print of a coupon some up to 3. There are even a few more sites that allow you to print 10 copies of a coupon.

Don't spend money to save money, that pretty much defeats the purpose, unless it's a $1.50 on the Sunday Paper and usually you get more than enough coupons out of the center to pay for the paper and save some money still.

I followed the link and it looks suspicious to me.

I sometimes supplement coupons by using a coupon clipping site--couponmasters.com or thecouponclippers.com. They charge a small processing fee for clipped coupons that are in papers/circulars (from 5 to 15 cents depending on the value of the coupon). It comes in handy if I see a coupon in the paper for a product that I buy a lot; I can usually find that coupon on one of the two sites then order multiples of it. The only downside is you need about $3 worth to place an order, and given the low processing fees, I rarely find enough coupons for products I use (and will purchase before the coupon expires) to reach the minimum order.

I agree that company websites and online coupon sites are a great resource too (and free). But recently I've found it harder to find coupons online for the stuff we use; I used to print online coupons regularly, but now I'm lucky if I find a few each month.

To be honest, the $ I save with coupons probably is not worth the time I put into clipping and sorting through them. But I find it fun.

Do those FSBO websites work?

My old neighbours accross the street sold their house within ~4 months for a good price by using a FSBO website. I think when using one of these sites you have to be ready to put in a decent bit of work. The #1 way they got people into their house to look at it was with open houses. The FSBO site they went with included advertising for maybe 4 open house showing ads in the real estate weekly section of the local paper. They would advertise their open house for both Saturday and Sunday for most of the day. They had their signs out on the steet too to get more people in. When going with FSBO you really have to sell yourself. Yes, its more work, but if you put a price tag on your hourly time spent and what you saved with not using a RE it would be very worth while for most people.

I used the Grocery Game for a few months and saw a significant savings. It was time consuming cutting the coupons and creating a filing system, but once I found a system that worked, I had it made. I don't have alot of room to stockpile like they advocate, but I saved alot of money. There were many times I used the coupons and got $200 worth of groceries for about $20. The drawback of the grocery game is it is time consuming. I'd have to go to the store to buy the Sunday Paper, clip the coupons, file them - all on a Sunday, then I only had until Tuesday to go shopping. This was ok when I wasn't working, but once I started a FT job, something had to give. I just didn't have time for it anymore, so I gave up my membership. I think if there is something available online free and in advance like xamsx noted above, I would be more inclined to use that. The Grocery Game (aka Teri's list) was just too rushed for me.

Also, something else to consider, does the store you shop at accept computer generated coupons? The ones in my area don't and they say it on their front windows.

They have accepted computer generated coupons, but computer generated coupons are hard to come by anymore. Plus they waste a lot of paper and ink!! I did see that Target is no longer accepting computer generated coupons. From what I understand on this site, they mail you the coupons. Christy :)

My local grocery will no longer accept computer generated coupons either, they got stuck with too many "frauds". Too bad, I got them from CouponBug, just load them and print.

I personally use www.shoppinggenius.org to search for coupons. I have saved alot using this site this month. It is free to search and free to join. They also send updates of new coupons and have a community based on saving money
