Comments (19)thx nancy! that gives me positive hope - not just my 'wishful' hope. he was fine when we were doing the dirt pad out front - or seemed to be his regular 'ol self! we noticed a few changes when we moved his pen (now called 'man cave'). I attributed that to several things - the change, he was then away from his sister on her trips out to potty (they were within ft of each other before) and I was out there each time and walked over to give him hugs etc. and he was penned in so I thought he just didn't like that! after about 2 wks I started cabling him again on the outer side of the man cave - he could go in...or out. I did that for several hrs in the evening hoping it would help him adjust. and of course, the heat here now! ugh! and he took to flipping his pool over so water would go all over the ground and then he'd lie in the mud. I didn't like that (he'd never been so dirty!) but figured if it cooled him I'd deal with it. prior to the pen change he was as active and ornery as he was when he was a pup. my sister said the same thing last night - that she didn't think he was ever gonna age and then boom! he is acting more alert today. not getting up tho. he did try to get up and bark at a worker - it was a sad sounding bark! I'm gonna spend some time tonight raking some of the stones in there over to the sides so he doesn't have to sleep on a bed of stone....See MoreWilsonart laminate Sable or Green Soapstone? Anyone used it?
Comments (4)I am considering it for our laundry room and office/desk area off the kitchen. I have seen pictures on line and am anxious to see them in person. From what I can tell, they look really good. White cabinets and soapstone cabinets seems so timeless :o)! Keep me posted and I will do the same....See MoreUpdate on the Mini-Makeover
Comments (0)We picked up the Metal Ocean counters that we ordered last Friday. They look better than I hoped. No matter how big the samples are, they never do the counter justice. You really notice the golden color, which will compliment the cabinets. By the way, I do have lots of Formica and Wilsonart samples if anyone needs. As you may know already, my tile is in and I am very happy. I will go 5 inches with the 1 inch tile, but 3 inches up I am inserting a row of the 5/8 inch tile to make it more interesting. Plus, I couldn't send it back. We just spoke with our contractor and we are tentatively set to start work on the kitchen 8/30. We will be picking up our counters today and trying to find room for them to store. I had a friend come over yesterday and she thinks that the color we used was Calypso Breeze. She even remembers me saying something about Calypso Breeze back six years ago. Since we cannot agree on a green and the off-whites/yellows are too creamy for stainless steel, we are going with the blue Calypso Breeze. It goes with the cabinets and the tile, since anything I picked had to go with the blue since the kitchen borders with the dining and living room space. Speaking of stainless steel, I was hoping someone could give us advice on the shelving whether we should go with 16 gauge or 18 gauge stainless steel shelves. Currently we are looking for two 84" inch stainless steel shelves. I imagine we will be putting our bowls, colanders, electrical gadgets, steamers, and recipe books. We are getting rid of the soffits and updating the light fixtures. This month better roll by quickly. Deni...See MoreI want laminate countertops, am I crazy?
Comments (45)Hi, I'm late to the party but I did laminate in my kitchen. For a little more, I could have gotten bottom of the line granite, but the BOL granite didn't have the look I wanted, and I couldn't afford a granite that did. It was as simple as that, so I chose a laminate that had the look I wanted. Should I ever win the lottery, I'll install soapstone or a dark granite with lots of movement. Until then, this will do nicely. I use my kitchen hard--lots of cooking, lots of baking, and teenagers that like to cook and bake as well. I can see some microscratches in the "command center", where we work the most. We always use cutting boards, trivets, or hot pads. It's only visible if you look at it from the side under good light, so I'm not stressing about it. Thanks, Westsider for the nice words about my kitchen! :-) So, no, you're not crazy. If this is what you want, then by all means, this is what you should get. This is your kitchen and it needs to function the way you want it to. Enjoy the process, Cj...See Moredmwbcc
