'Green' Eggs & Ham.............

.........that is what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow morning. I just got home from " Harrison Hot Springs Resort" and we stopped at a farm coming home. They sold fresh "Heritage Chicken Eggs"and some of the eggs are green. I did not know that there was such a thing, but apparently "Dr. Suess" didn't just make that up. Has anyone else, heard of green eggs before? Cool hey !!! My daughter thought they were neat.

.....We bought fresh garlic ( grown on the farm ) and fresh roasted coffee ( they roasted it right there on the farm too)

....Oh....and "Mountain Honey"....right from their hives.

What a great trip we had. Diana55 P.S....Lots of fresh fruit and veggies too. Peaches, blueberries, blackberries, hazelnuts, hazelnut flour,hazelnut oil,califlower, Chilliwack corn on the cob.

Arucuna chickens....they lay greenish and blueish eggs.
I know someone who has some babies and in a very few weeks will be selling eggs....and I want to be on her list!

Yes, I'm also familiar with Araucana chicken, who lay the "Easter Egg" colored eggs.

They taste like any other egg, but they're very interesting and I've never met a kid who wasn't intrigued.

Nice haul, you'll be eating good for a while, it looks like. Now, where are the pictures? LOL

I am a big fan of Dr. Seuss movies - I have spent lots of time on YouTube with the kids watching :) I don't know why, but I watched alot of these movies in school. Some are very political....fun to see what you notice as an adult. I remember the movies being very though provoking to me.... Sarah will participate at school - they have a drop everything and read program. The kids bring a favorite book and at many times during the school day, they will drop what they're doing and pick up their book to read. She's at the end of The BFG. Saucy

FF, I agree, especially if you're a serial overwater (now in remission) that I used to be when I lived in OH. I killed some really cute plants and just thought, those aren't for me... they sure like the AL sun though. Hey, Sarah! IDK... that's why I was asking. TJ, yes, I was shocked to see species names too, most of them seem to be correct from the plants I bought and pics I can find... the labeled ones are from cactuscollection.com - where one could get lost looking at pics all night... I like them a lot better than the Costas Farms plants, no scale that I can see.

Patti, we have green eggs in Amarillo because my friend sold me fresh eggs and asked if I have a problem with green eggs. Some of her customers did not want the green ones. I find that funny as the green eggs cooked and tasted like the brown and white ones. :) Brenda, the egg lady, knows the breed names of her chickens, but I don't recall the names she told me.

Wow! You stocked up on some very good stuff.

Speaking of unusual eggs, I wonder why duck eggs are not more readily available. Because mass production methods haven't been applied to duck eggs? Duck eggs are like chicken eggs but a little bigger and with more intensely colored yolks. Somewhat richer tasting too I think, and perhaps more nutritious. I should think there would be a demand for them.

HARRISON HOT SPRINGS???? OMG I was there with my parents when I was 13! Is it still loads of fun and good food?

I love Harrison Hot Springs. Haven't been there for about two years, and last time I was it needed some upgrading. But it is one of my favourite places to go. Love their Art's festival in July. I am jealous with envy! What was the farm you stopped at? We are hoping to go there for a day visit next week, and that farm sounds like a must to go to place! Would have loved pictures of the green eggs, lol. Glad you had a good time and you picked a perfect week weather wise to go.

A friend used to give me geese eggs for baking. The shells took some getting into- they are really thick and hard! I think if you hit someone on the head with one you'd be more likely to concuss him than to break the egg. I had to use a knife- whacking on the counter just didn't do it.

Sorry....No pic's.....because I started cooking, with most of it,as soon as I got home. Shelley....the farm I went to was called....."The Back Porch" It is just before you enter Harrison Hot Springs. Look for the sign....and if you don't see it.....just go to the " Visitor's Information Office" That is right in Harrison. The Mountain Honey....well they sell it everywhere in Harrison. Hope you have a good time, and if you want to go to a good restaurant while you are there, go to the " Crazy Fish Bistro" I had the Spinach Salad (with the Pine nut dressing) and the Steak Tenderloin. It was absolutely fantastic!!! It was really fresh and tastey. The price was right too. Have fun!!! Diana55 P.S.....The Log Cabin Pub there makes really good French Onion Soup. Nice Pub too !!!

It's called the "Old Settlers Pub" They have pretty good food too. They have a " Prime Rib" Smorgasborg every night. Really good and cheap too.

Thanks Diana! Your right the pub is good and we have been there before. We will try the Crazy Fish Bistro, it sounds great! Can't believe I have never noticed the sign for the farm before. Will definately look for it this time. Thanks again!
