Has anyone bought silk curtains from Linens N Things?

If so, how do you like them? I got an e-mail from LNT with their 25% sale on all window treatments, plus the 20% coupons that I accumulated over the past months- that would be great savings!

I've been looking for silk WT for my LR/DR, was planning to have my mom make them for me, but the silk fabrics that I saw locally are expensive. Even the polyester/cotton blend that I really like is special-ordered at $40+/yard! Way out my budget.

So I'm looking at store-bought WTs now. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I think they are nice and I have sewn draperies but why go to the bother if you can get them for a good price. Also you can always return them. I say go for it. Silk fabric is really expensive plus they must be lined.

I bought lined dupioni silk panels from BB&B, which is essentially the same thing as Linens N Things. I love them!

Fauxchick if you put glue on those fabulous drapes I'll fly down and shoot you myself LOL Having them adjusted profesionally will be quite inexpensive...you're taking the right route there :) Or you could mail them to me and I'll do them...mind you, I may have to hang them for a few years to get the wrinkles out...but when I'm done with them, you can have them right back :oP heh heh I too love this thread...I don't get to play with silk as much as I used to (I used to make quilts that were donated to charities asking my employer for money...in a busy bank, with lenders all around me, you'd see my corner office...Fancy desk, lots of file cabinets, very banker like...but wth? There's a babylock on the table in the corner and several piles of silk on the desk :) I loved being able to sew at work LOL I just pulled baby out of the closet and she's looking at me with great longing...maybe I'll make a drape today...she needs me :) (Unfortunately so does my 3 year old and he's not much help with the fabic!!!)

moccasin - those are some nice lights! i can see why you like them. I bet they're more than 20-30 $s each tho... I loved that the globes come in colors... I'd stay away from the red tho. OTOH that could be good for an emergency signal to a neighbor. I'm too poor to pay much for the lights - even if I find a SWern one i like it's sure to be more than 30.00 and I think I should limit it to that. I need 3 - plus a few (plus) inside need replaced based on they are UGLY. I found these 2 at lowe's. both plain but would do the job - cheaply. it'll probably be the first one unless I find something better for the price in the store. around 25.00 with clean lines. I'd have to see how my chubby little fingers fit for changing the bulb. it's better I don't have to mess with those little screws and chance dropping the globe since things seems to jump out of my hands. I remember changing bulbs in the screw on globe type yrs ago. max wattage is 100w this one is about 21.00. I like it, again clean, simple lines - this one has a frosted globe. has the little screws tho and max wattage is 60w.

No great loss, AFAIC - the one nearest me (about 35 minutes away) was/is always grubby, disorganized, and the employees were always surly, like they were doing you this huge favor by doing anything whatsoever for you. The only nearby competition is really TJMaxx, Penneys has a miniscule home section. There's a BB&B about 10 minutes away from me now and the store is always clean, well-lit, reasonably well organized and if the employees aren't terribly knowledgeable (high proportion of students from the nearby university) they're at least apologetic if they're clueless. Plus, the LNT here wouldn't accept expired coupons, even by one day, and I swear the stars and planets had to be in the right conjunction for them to take a BB&B coupon (which also couldn't be expired), while I've used 5 year old BB&B coupons - got a big stack on Freecycle - and expired LNT coupons at BB&B with no fuss whatsoever. We have to go to the Maul (yes, that spelling is intentional) this weekend because DH is in dire need of some new pants for work and I'm curious to see how many empty storefronts there are. I haven't been there in about three months. It does suck about the job losses, though. I learned about two layoffs of people close to me just this week, both with no notice at all. Just "here's your final check and the phone number for the unemployment office, now go". It's a downward spiral - get laid off, can't afford to buy anything that isn't the bare necessities, more companies go out of business because their sales are in the toilet and lay their people off, then they can't afford to buy stuff... restaurants are already closing right and left here, including one of our favorites. :-( An acquaintance who works for a car dealership (administrative staff, not sales) has been warned to start job-hunting now because despite discounts and rebates they've sold one car in the last 30 days so layoffs will be inevitable within the next couple of weeks, and unless there's a huge increase in sales the dealership may close by the end of the year.

The bedskirt arrived today, faster than I thought and nicely packaged. It was kind of fun to read the customs declaration from Russia. The quality is pretty good, maybe not what I had hoped but I did pay a bargain price. You get what you pay for but I always hope for a bonanza. It’s badly crumpled so I’ll have to press it before I put it on the bed. Not my favorite activity. I give it neither a thumbs up nor a thumbs down, kind of a thumbs in the middle.Grey Moose

Rich69,If you are good at sewing you can buy silk dupioni off of ebay for about $12-14 a yard.

If you arent confident in your sewing skills or dont have someone to help you with the sewing then by all means buy from LNT their silk is beautiful and they carry all lengths.

I brought some home from BB&B to try. They were lovely and a great value - I only wished my room could handle the sheen.

I bought the cream and gold stripe lined silk duponi from L&T and they are suprisingly good quality. Now if they could just do something about the sheets !

I have silk panels from L&T but haven't put them up yet so I can't tell you how satisfied I am, though I certainly expect to be. I did want to give you a heads up on how to save even more money, though.

When I bought my panels they had two promotions that overlapped - the 25% off sale, plus they had any size panel for the lowest size price. So I bought my 84" panels for the price of 64", plus the 25" store promo, plus the 20% off coupon! I figured out I saved about 60%.

It was just a fluke that I walked in the store when they were running two promotions, but maybe a friendly salesperson there can tell you what kind of sales are on the horizon...

kgsd - the color is BM Bali - my DD picked it out to match the one pillow on the bed and the blue in the swirl of the paisley quilt. It is a pretty color and it is very serene.

This bedroom shares the jack and jill bath that I am going to paint EK Aqua. I can't wait - it is a beautiful color.

I have trouble buying drapes bc my windows are 103 inches so they are either too short or too long. These seem to fit ok when I put the rod right on the window. You can see how they are not touching the floor. I wanted to drop them with rings but DD didn't want rings. It's her room so it was her call. LOL

Unfortuntely for me, the sale doesn't apply for the curtains I want. Im not sure why since it says "every window treatment" but I guess there are always exceptions.
