Chronic health problems from last year's vegetable garden
Comments (59)Many of our medical people have not yet accepted that exposure to many of the poisons sprayed on land that is "conventionally" farmed can cause chronic health problems even though they recognize they can cause acute health problems. Exposure to more then one could cause a symbiotic relationship that is not healthy. That some people are more susceptible to adverse reactions to these poisons is also a known and if that person is exposed to more than one of these potential allergins can cause even larger problems. Unfortunately the only way to find put if a person is suscetible to any substance is to expose them to that substance. While an allergist can, and will, test someone for these types of allergies it will only be done if there is good reason to suspect there is a need. So alaria121 if you are still able to please update us on what, if anything has been found....See MoreAnyone who has problems with fragrances or chemicals.
Comments (9)I also use All Free & Clear, and distilled white vinegar in the rinse. No fabric softeners, no fabric softener sheets. For personal products, you might want to check out Paula's Choice products. All these products (hair care, skin care, makeup) are fragrance free. They offer an All Over Hair and Body Shampoo that I've used. I also use the fragrance free sunscreens (no perfume stench!), body lotions, and other skin care products. Don't be taken in by products labeled "Unscented" which means that the product does include fragrance that has a neutral scent. You want Fragrance Free products. Another thing to watch for is fragrance free products that contain other ingredients that can be irritating to the skin - peppermint oil, for example, which is indeed natural, but can irritate the skin, and the manufacturer doesn't "count" that as scent. Check Paula Begoun's books out of the library. Very informative evaluation of hundreds of personal care products by ingredients with a special emphasis on ingredients that are known to irritate skin. Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me, 6th Edition Don't Go Shopping for Hair-Care Products Without Me, 3rd Edition She has a good price for the books on her website, but I'd check them out of the library first to see if these are resource books you think you might need to own. Comments (39)Update: For the past 2 weeks I have been preparing yard and house for Son's Grad Party which took place this past weekend. It was well attended and overall went fairly smooth. My husband decided he couldn't wait anymore and talked to my son about things (without me being present). I was able to talk with son later, he says he "understands" and just wishes I didn't have to go. Have tried to give him opportunity to speak about his feelings My husband has laid on lots of guilt. Underneath it all have been the ugly conversations with my husband. Husband has now informed me that I can't take any of my furniture with me when I leave. "How would our son feel if he came home and (some of) the furniture is gone?" He tells me I can't take a large family painting (that my uncle painted) with me because he would have to paint the wall underneath and that wouldn't be fair. (I'm not joking) The lastest is the surprise vacation that husband reserved back in Feb. I told him all along not to include me in those plans. Now since my son doesn't know that I don't want to go, husband says and I quote "bite the bullet and go." My daughter is also going, so husband says it "still could be fun". However, I know that son and gf will have their own room- I just don't want to be part of that anymore. I feel sick. I confronted husband about the (nude)pictures of gf on the computer. He tells me that he would NEVER do such a thing. He was offended that I would think such horrible things about him. I have proof that he hacked the gf's Facebook account. He went so far as to change the email contact information on her profile, so that everytime she changed her password he was being informed by email. And I am the one who has not been loyal to him, and believes only the worst. Tells me that he has covered my donkey with our son(because I don't come home til 8pm most evenings)and defended me....See MoreHusband and Stepson problem
Comments (3)Dear alammy, I see the date of your original post was a year ago. However, your description of the dilemma (involving your husband & son) is very similar to mine right now (there are significant differences, but the similarities are what caught my eye and interest). Because of these things, I hope you (still) get notifications from this thread and could answer a couple questions for me? 1) did you happen to follow either of the two suggestions offered on this board? I saw one suggestion thought you could consult a family counselor. The other poster suggested you pay for your son's rent and doing so could buy you both some time (no pun intended) to get him help by seeking additional support/ assistance? 2) Would you mind posting a follow-up (or update) now that a year has gone by? I feel for your situation, whether it has passed or is still ongoing. I hope to reconcile my problems with my son, but I doubt it will occur soon. I feel some problems, especially those which involve mental health issues, chemical or substance abuse, divorce or family involvement, and/or legal issues, can be long, drawn-out processes which do not get resolved quickly. Additionally, contrary to what many people may think when superficially reading others' problems, the issues we all face are rarely singular in nature and are frequently layered issues complicated by unique and individualized lifestyles or economic status. Thank you for your post, vet...See Morepopi_gw
