If you have a prep sink, what's the size of the cleanup sink?
Comments (9)Where I'm going with this is having a huge sink in a smaller kitchen, thus looking like a big bathtub where counter space may be more helpful. Sounds like the super single is the choice for most people with a prep, though, so I'm probably overthinking it. I guess I'm a little surprised that so few use smaller sinks but I may be a rare one to have a prep sink in a non mega kitchen. I see what you're saying about size of prep not mattering but I guess my thought is that since I won't have anything in it other than dirty dishes that I should be putting away anyway, I should move down a size. I'm not competing with prep space in that same sink as I am now, IYKWIM. The other thing that gives me pause with that sink is that I don't *love* the depth - I'm tall with back issues and my current sink (same depth) gives me fits when I stand at it for long (alas, no one in my family jumps to do the dishes, though, no matter how much I complain). To be fair, though, I prep there too and the Rondo is a shallower sink - hopefully that will help once I get the prep area. Plus we currently have tile and are replacing with softer wood. Did I mention I'm probably overthinking this???...See MorePrep and Clean-up sinks in island?
Comments (8)It was just at the beginning of our kitchen designing and we changed the plan completely. It was going to make 3 sinks in our kitchen, if I remember right, which I didn't want. I was trying to create a butler's pantry type of cleanup space, which was just too much to fit...So it was the whole plan that didn't work, not necessarily the sink part of it....See MoreOCD alert: Blanco Diamond cleanup sink with Precis prep?
Comments (9)Another who never noticed curves in the Diamond and doesn't like the grid. For the first couple months (yes, months) our sink was installed, our water pressure wasn't right and we were getting about 1/4 - 1/3 what we should. We had the grid in and it was horrible to get stuff out from under it. We finally took it out. When we had a (competent, local) plumber come out and fix the water pressure (unplugging a filter that the GC's plumber couldn't evidently find, even with the directions and schematic...but I digress) and DH was hot to put the grid back in, so we did. I am the one who does clean up. I still felt things were never as clean as with out the grid, therefore...it's out again. Warning: KAW pic...and not a very pretty one...but function abounds. When working in the kitchen, I often have the rollout drain rack on like that and even without...I don't see the curve. I wonder if it depends on the countertop edge as to how evident or not the curve is?...See MoreSilgranit sink for prep; SS for cleanup - weird?
Comments (3)I think it's fine to have non-matching sinks as long as each looks good with the countertop(s). I've seen kitchen reveals here like that. That said, I am of the mind to make sure you love each piece of your kitchen even if it means spending a little bit more up front. I waited a long time to have my one and only shot at a kitchen reno. I didn't want to spend all that money and be disappointed in the end that I didn't spend a tiny amount more to get what was right instead of just making do. And I'm biased about silgranit sinks, also. I completely, totally, and absolutely adore both of mine. For me, it's an easy call to spend a little more money to have two silgranits. YMMV....See Morevictoriajane
