We used to live on a stretch of highway that had a hog farm somewhere back off of it in the boonies. They fed the hogs scraps from the local cheese factory. Both smells together was just too much! LOL

My DD and I used to SPEED down that stretch of highway. We'd laugh that there was no way that a policeman was gonna stop, get out of his car and stay there long enough to give me a ticket! LOL

Favorite smell? Fresh bathed baby and puppy breath

Oh, lilacs are wonderful! I also love the smell of daffodils and paperwhites. And, this may sound weird but I like the smell of freshly laid asphalt and new tires.

Worst smell is wet dog followed closely by paper-mill.

Much as I love dogs, I hate the smell of unbathed or wet dogs. Heavy perfumey stuff. Yuck!

Favorite, the smell that comes off the pasture just after a rain--grassy, slightly flowery and damp earth.
Worst--heavy perfume. Makes you wonder what other smell is being covered up.

Isn't it funny how sometimes our likes/dislikes are prompted by a memory? For example, I really dislike the smell of laying asphalt (paving), because one time when I was little we were stuck in traffic due to paving and I was sick to my stomach. I was sick before we left home, not because of the asphalt, but now I associate them, and my stomach turns at the smell.

However, I love the smell of a papermill because we used to vacation in an area where most of the people worked in the mill, and you could often smell it. Those were happy, fun times and I loved it there, and I associate the smell of a paper mill with that. Love it.

I love the smell of rosemary (crushed leaves between my fingers). I don't especially love the taste of it, but love the smell on my fingers. And I don't like the smell of puppy breath (despite being a huge animal lover! :-)

Glenda, you said "wet duck feathers -- reminds me of smells from China" - is that your favorite or worst? I'm not familiar enough with either wet duck feathers or smells from China and am trying to get an idea of either.

One day I came home from work and the smell that hit me when I opened the door almost knocked me down. My husband was cooking tripe (he'll eat ANYTHING) and I had to tell him I'd be back in a few hours because I was going to be sick. I ended up going to the mall and eating at the food court, but thankfully the smell was gone by the time I returned.

My favourite smell is Ambergris, which was sold in the 70's in a small black bottle. It was made from the center of a hairball type thing (ewww) that whales expel in the ocean, that later washes up on shore. It doesn't seem to be made anymore, but I sure remember loving the smell of the finished product!

I hate the smell of diesel fuel and skunk. Best smells, puppy breath and old fashioned iris.

I can not describe it. It is not a most unpleasant odor like being putrid. Actually you would have to smell it firsthand. It just smells unclean to me.

GOOGLE "ferret odor" and read the means to try to control it in pet ferrets. I suppose since there are so many sites dedicated to it, others do not like it either. I do like ferrets, but at a reasonable distance.

Mmm... magnolias, how wonderful they smell. They are to us in the south like lilacs are to you more northward posters. I wish I could have lilacs (and peonies). Do peonies have a smell?

As a child I loved the smell of the Plumeria flower lei's we'd make for our friends. Does anyone have a plumeria tree?
