Spring Garden Show coming up
Comments (38)I am so sorry to hear of your bad experience! I remember Aloha T. Saying the plants would be on sale the last day. What a gyp! Upland is just too rich for my blood. Did you stop and talk to Mona Lisa? She only had cuttings, and it aounds to me like you bought only potted plants. Many of her cuttings she gave me bloomed late last summer after rooting in April, and I was quite pleased. I am glad to hear you stopped at JJ. I wish I could go there someday, but I hate the long drive from La Verne! Although I am glad I haven't gone, because I would bring back more plants! I have been to the show twice, last year and this year. I won't go again either. Last year I didn't spend much time. I have been to Upland Nursery on my own, and there plants are nice but way aver proced! This year I took the time to stop and look closely at every plumeria grower. Since I have decided to only buy named varieties from ow on, alot of the displays were unnamed, so I wasn"t interested. At least MonaLisa"s were all cuttings of named varieties. I have way too many now. I certainly don't need more! Good luck with your new plants No-Clue. By the way, you can post pictures using Photobucket, along with a few other websites. I use Photobucket because they have an app for the iPad. Take care everyoen, happy blooming! Jennifer...See MoreFisher Paykel GWL 11 Ecosmart acting up again
Comments (131)Hmmm. Should be between between 110v and 125v. Higher voltage is too much power so it'd run hot and kick-out on overheat protection, maybe pretty quickly, maybe almost instantly. However, seems odd the reading is so much over the norm. An earlier model uses a 230v pump, the motor board on it has components to increase the voltage for the pump circuit even though the machine connects to a standard 120v power outlet. Your board doesn't do that for the pump circuit, although it may produce higher voltage for other circuits. Anyway, you've confirmed the board is outputting power to the pump circuit. Check again on the connector down at the pump to confirm power is getting all the way there to rule out a broken/shorted wire. The only other check is a resistance reading on the pump (7 ohms, you've already done that). I have no suggestion other than replace the motor board again. You said the board had already been replaced once. Is it new enough to be covered by a parts warranty of sorts?...See MoreShow off your talents!
Comments (135)So many talented people on GW/Houzz. I've enjoyed seeing everything. I don't have any pictures to share, but have done stitching (cross stitch, needlepoint, petipoint and embroidery). Several of my friends and I decided to do a holiday sale years ago, where I made a lot of rosebud topiary, rosebud picture frames and reindeer centerpieces. I've done numerous centerpieces and other floral arrangements, wreaths and topiary for our homes. Canvas art done with various pieces (coins, rings, keys, metal pieces, textured papers and cloth, etc). I've sewn curtains, tablecloths and costumes. Created several garden areas at our last home. I played the flute and piccolo in high school and was in an Army Reserve Band. I also twirled rifle in high school, and have the bad wrist to prove it! My most consist talent has been decorating/accessorizing....See MoreHello. please help me, this animal showed up in my room
Comments (4)I had a squirrel (?) crawl down a vent pipe in my bathroom and die a few years back. I ended up with a rain of maggots coming into the bathroom through the ventilation fan. I put a jar of alcohol up on a ladder to catch the maggots that fell and was able to "contain" the epidemic. Unfortunately, a few days after the maggots stopped, hundreds (maybe thousands) of big flies hatched out and from the carcass and came down through the vent. My bathroom looked like some scene out of a horror movie with big black flies EVERYWHERE! Fortunately, I had managed to keep the door closed and contained all the flies into that one room where I could spray insecticide and sweep up the dead bodies later. It wasn't a particularly good time though....See Morealisande
