+2 I agree. For most chilis, if I want truly ripe peppers, I wouldn't pick them until they are ripe on the plant or at least, starting to turn ripe. For instance, a Hot hungarian wax pepper will be a yellowish green color while growing. But once it starts to ripen, it will turn a shade of orange and shortly after will go to a nice bright red color. If you want "ripe" ones, pick them when red or at least orange going on red. That being said, many peppers are normally picked and eaten when still green such as a Jalapeno which will eventually turn red. There is a bit of taste and heat difference between them and it is a matter of personal preference. I generally pick and process most of my Hot Hungarian wax when they are still yellowish green. I do this for a few reasons. 1. The flavor and heat suits me fine at that stage. 2. I usually don't want to wait too long. Any time after they reach mature size, I will pick them. 3. It allows the plant to get busy and put it's energy into producing additional pods. Bruce

Thanks for the info Live_wire. The cabinets are already installed - so no chance of taking this to a shop plus DIY on fixing any issues on a conversion finish does not appear to be a good alternative. The shellac based primer and enamel sound good. The whole kitchen will be masked and sealed off from the rest of the house. I have estimates that range from $2.5K - $6K to do the finish, and range from 5 - 10 days of work. Still sanding, sanding, sanding. I hate sanding, lol. Wolverine - the granite is something called Nebula Aurora by Bellisimo Granite. We fell in love with it at the show room as it was unlike anything we had seen - more veining and little to no speckles. We liked it so much, we decided on using it for a full splash. Plus It matched our slate flooring. However, I learned as they were installing it that it was a softer stone. It is a quartzite. We had some hot oil spill on it and it stained right away. Needless to say I have learned how to "poultice" lol and now, I am having some regrets about using it as the backsplash especially behind the Capital Culinarean. Mareluce - thank you - but I have made my share of mistakes - part of which is causing me to paint rather than stain to cover a few things that I messed up. I did not make the doors - I ordered those from Cabinet Now in Northern California - they shipped doors within 5-7 business days - great company - easy to deal with.

Hello, I was a member of Gardenweb rose forums way back in 04-07 but then life got in the way. I used to go to the Vic Gardenweb meet ups, but I've lost touch with everyone. I've also lost my original rose garden, including my old moss rose collection due to a knockdown/rebuild, where none of the roses could be dug out and saved due to their positioning. I have a new blank slate garden now and need advice on which sellers in Vic are still selling Moss Roses, bourbons and in particular I'm chasing down a Souvenir Du Docteur Jamain to replace the one I had. I'm looking forward to the bare root season next year, which gives me time to chase everything I want down. Lastly, any pure white climbing rose suggestions (not Iceberg) will be welcomed, as I'm looking for something fragrant for the front fence.
