they're bigger (thus better) than the 1" round mailer labels I buy at the office supply. But I'd never burn that many CDs.

Ah, but Kayskats, you can buy a package of 40 CD labels for less than $5. Cheaper than any other labels I have seen even if you have to throw away the parts that are meant to be used! LOL

(I'll try not to break my arm patting myself on the back! LOL)

years ago, the extension service ran a small canning operation at the nearby state farmers market. Mom and her friends would buy bushels of whatever was in season, sit around prepping it, load it in the cans and off it went to be processed. They'd pick it up later.
somehow, the labeling process always missed a few and toward the end of winter, we had surprise veggies.

Yeahbut...it's pretty easy to tell strawberries from peaches and jelly from pickles in a glass jar.
That was an old joke at a shower for newly weds. Give them a basket of cans with the labels removed. And most of us were so strapped for funds we used it all...I would open a can and check to see what I could make out of it....I think I did toss some bean sprouts though.

Linda, I can't can - kudoes to all y'all who can can ;] - but I do remember that movie and use that line all the time. You're the first other person I've ever known to use it. 8-]

Be real careful, BTW, with those CD labels. They've been known to jam up CD players.

Just wanted to say I use "scathingly brilliant idea" too but most folks think *I* made up the phrase! So much for other Hailey Mills fans! Gosh I wanted to BE Hailey Mills when I was a child because of her long blond hair! I would even practice her accent! Oh the phases we all seem to go through! LOL

BTW, I think you have a darn good and scathingly brilliant idea here!

Kayskats: I think it was way back in the late 50's, we would stop in Dunkin Dounuts on our way to
work and get a cup of coffee.

I would ask the waitress, " how much are the holes in the donuts " and she would say,
"they are free, they come with the donut". I said " give me a dozen to go ".

This went on for a while all around Phila and suburbs.
Then jobs changed and we stopped going to Dunkin Donuts
for awhile.

When I first saw the Donut Holes I said, hey ! they are finally making Donut Holes,
so they can charge you for them.
Didn't give it another thought, except for telling my wife about it.

I'll never know if it started from me asking for Donut Holes.

And, I never did get any free donut holes !!!

i think that DOES qualify as a scathingly brilliant idea! and i have to confess to remembering haley as well...

My grandmother made doughnut holes long before the 50's. The bakery in my home town during the 40's always sold doughnut holes. They were cake doughnuts and they cut them by hand and fried up the part that came out of the center. It's only when doughnuts began being made with those machines that squeezed out the dough directly into the hot fat that dough nut holes began being specially made.
Now my scathingly brilliant idea is to soon treat my grand kids to a doughnut making session. I'll bet they have never whatched a doughnut turn brown in the oil right before their eyes....and rolled it in sugar and eaten it still warm!
We could even make cruellers!

The stickers are a great idea, Linda. I used to never mark anything but it's hard to tell home canned catsup from homecanned tomato sauce or BBQ sauce. It's also difficult to tell this year's pickles from last year's pickles, LOL, and I can't tell you how many times I've opened a jar of what I thought was blackberry jelly to find it was elderberry or blueberry, once I even got plum sauce!

I still don't label everything, but I label those things I might confuse with other things so thanks!

I wouldn't EVER use the part of the label for the CD as fast as the canning jar centers!
I buy labels very reasonably from the site below!
They have several colors, but plain white 2" labels come 20 per sheet for $.46/sheet.
You just have to order enough to offset the shipping costs.
You can get up to 100 sheets for a flat rate of $4.60.

I just saw the title of this thread and immediately thought of Haley Mills in The Trouble With Angels. I love that movie and often use that same phrase myself!!

Deanna, I know most people don't use a lot of CD labels. But since I was making 50 labels, I figured I may as well save and use the centers, too!

Plus I work in a diagnostic clinic and we burn xrays, MRI and CT images onto CD's for patients to take to specialists. So we go through probably 50-60 per week. I am just going to have the girls save the sheets for me when they make labels. You can't beat free!
