Shopping for shoes yesterday

Lauren needed a pair of heels to go with her prom dress and I needed something besides tennis shoes to wear with a pants outfit for Saturday. We're having a "going away" party for one of the nurses, eating dinner and then to the comedy club. I bought some booties a couple months ago but they killed my feet so I won't be wearing them ever again. In fact, I probably need to take them to Goodwill or something. What a waste of money that was. Then I bought some dark silver flats a couple weeks ago to go on a dinner train but I was hobbling in those too. When I got back in my car I put my tennis shoes back on for the drive home! So, more shoes going to Goodwill...

So, Lauren and I first went to TJ Maxx. Found nothing. All their shoes were extremely ugly. Then to Kohls...same thing. I just wanted something comfortable to go with black pants. Lauren kept telling me all the flats I picked out looked like "old man" shoes...and she was right. Why don't they make cute middle aged women shoes?

Finally, we decided to try Shoe Carnival where she found a pair of heels and I found two pair of shoes. I normally wear tennis shoes all the time, I have a pair for work and a pair for home. I found a pair of black mules made by Mootsie Tootsie that I think I can walk in and a pair of black Ked slip on canvas shoe. Lauren hated the canvas shoe and told me I should get some Vans like her's. I put them next to each other and they looked almost the same except mine don't have the big white stripe along the bottom and mine have a zipper. She's so particular-lol. I like mine better.

I'm wondering why most shoes hurt my feet? Am I alone? They rub and crush my toes. Even if they feel ok in a store walking around, if I wear them for say an hour or more they kill my feet. I even tried on some ugly $120+ "comfort" shoes at Shoe Carnival and they hurt my feet just walking in the store. Some shoes are just made cheap, like those booties I bought. They were like hard cardboard and I should have known better than to keep them. I bought them on-line.

Anyway, they were having a buy one get one half off and my canvas shoes were on sale too. Got all three pair for $58!

We also went clothes shopping because I have very few clothes that fit me. For the first time in my life it was almost fun. Found a cute peach colored dressy top, black jacket, two pair of pants, a long sleeved t-shirt to wear around the house (for $2.88!) and Lauren picked out a couple jackets. We went to Kohls and got a couple of bargains like the one shirt. Lauren's jackets were overpriced but they were buy one get the second for $1 so I guess it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
