Just a suggestion, Know The Cause *Doug Kaufmann. I know, another know it all? Not so fast. He attributes many conditions, ailments, disease to diet. He has found thru his own life storm that FUNGUS which is a KNOWN poison/carcinogenic is allowed in our GRAINS and CATTLE that we ingest, cause so many inflammations and disease - it will make your head spin. Menopause is a natural occurrence. I am going thru it. While being organic, gluten free, supplementing with Iodoral, magnesium, selenium, vit c, d3, b12 to name a couple. I eliminated IBS and all those drugs/tests. GERD/reflux and very expensive drugs for that. Sinus infections - the antibiotics were adding to my misery and so were the steroids. Just money down the drain. MIGRAINES ARE GONE, too! It is unreal. I thought for sure I would be the sick one all the time taking countless meds for this and that. I do not. In a way, I do not trust them, anymore. I took them for far too long and they did nothing to CURE me. Good luck to you. I have been hearing a lot latley about Abulation. (spelling is probably wrong) they go in and do something to your uterus, so you stop having periods, however, unlike a hysterectomy you still have your parts, so you don't go into "early" menopause. I just spent 7 weeks working at a temp job, and 5 of the ladies there said they had it, and were all very happy with their results. I'm thinking about speaking to my doc about it at my next checkup. CatherineT -- You're soooooo right about carbs being soooooooo good! They are my downfall. I've considered trying a lo-carb plan for a while (South Beach) but I am reluctant because it became such a fad. I know some people who went from eating a steady stream of refined sugars (sweets, white bread, etc.) all day long to avoiding almost every carb including whole grain breads and fruits which contain fiber and minerals and vitamins. That's throwing out the baby with the bathwater! Sure, they lost a lot of weight fast without needing to exercise, but they could have accomplished the same goal by cutting out the refined sugars only which is a lot more sensible and healthy. Eliminating healthy foods just because it has any carbs at all is not healthy eating if the only goal is to lose weight. Anyway... didn't mean to get on my soapbox about that, I'm just explaining why I shy away from any lo-carb "diet". I'd rather eat lower carb, eliminating the sweet snacks and desserts while also getting daily exercise. But, they're soooooooooooo good! 8-)
