Based on what you said, I think you may want to go with Side by side? I have the pro48 and I absolutely love it. I'll do it again. I have two kids. I don't' think water dispenser should be an issue. I never like them too much because water usually taste a little funny from the fridge based on my experience. If you are doing remodel, add a hot/cold water dispenser on your counter. Here is a list of pros and cons for the Pro48 Pros: - Commercial look, heavy duty contruction - Glass door is great for adults/ cook. It shorten the time the door is open because you see everything inside - Big drawers on the bottom for vegetables and other things.. so you are only opening part of the fridge. - lots of space to but "big" things on either side because of extra depth you get Cons: - you need to keep your fridge organized all the time - it can be challenging accessing some things if your fridge is full. (think about a deep cabinet you put your spices) Things in front will block things in the back. - There are only 5 shelves in fridge, so with the best settings i have, we can't put tall things standing up (soda bottle is too tall). If i make one shelf taller, the other one will be too short. If you get door shelves (in side by side), you can get more configuration for tall things. - Pro48 doesn't have the "air purification" filter system.. I don't know why and I don't know if they have something else to do that job instead.

Yes, this is common. Expect your period to start skipping, then returning, being heavy, lasting longer, lasting shorter, it all comes down to perimenopause. My first alert this was starting to occur was when I was 46. I had a period two weeks after the prior one and it freaked me out. Then I had a period like no other, with heavy bleeding and clots. It lasted almost 3 weeks, which is what sent me to the doctor. I went for a sonogram and found out the clots and very heavy/lengthy flow were due to fibroids. The periods skipping, changing in flow, etc went on for four years. The most difficult years for me though were ages 50 - 53, during which I had almost every symptom named in this forum. Thank God for all the caring women who have taken the time to share their stories here. From sore joints/muscles to heart palpitations to strange periods to anxiety to "weird head feeling," I have had all these and more. I was tested for all kinds of things and often told "it has nothing to do with perimenopause," as though it wasn't even real. I wish the medical community would do a better job communicating the issues related to this time of life. I say all this to give you a heads up now as to what might be ahead. Consult your doctor about anything that seems "off" to you, even if it's just to have peace of mind. But also know that much of the time, changing hormones are behind a great many of these symptoms. I never realized the enormous role hormones play in our lives. I am now 54 and still have the odd hot flash or muscle stiffness but things are getting better. I hope you will be one of the lucky ones for whom perimenopause is a breeze.

Great thread idea, circuspeanut, and interesting thoughts all. On Mad Men, we watched several epis (with great anticipation) and never went back, we didn't care for the acting, the writing or the whole misogynistic tone, yech. Being baby boomer/gen x cusp types, I do remember some of the iconic design stuff (appliances, lighting), but thankfully I grew up in the boonies, so the whole suburb thing is lost on me. The razor blade disposal doesn't bother me at all, in fact, I prefer that to the plastic and gel encased blade pods you can buy (for a small forture!) and not recycle. And WRT town dumps, I am again showing my rube status, but our town has one, and most everyone uses it, there is no curbside pickup by our town or county, those who do have curbside contract with private companies. Finally, the initial question, I think it transitions into set design when, well, props are used extensively and pretend to be authentically used items. Consider the old fashioned mixer with mint green bowl on the counter (when the brand new Viking is in the cab, or worse yet, no actual mixer is ever used cuz no actual cooking is ever done), that feels inauthentic to me, but having a collection of old fashioned graters on the wall as a decorative feature feels OK, probably cuz they are decorative pure and simple and not trying to get anyone to think they really use the old Mixmaster. I appreciate retro design, but I would never want it to be "just like grannie's", and I don't think most folks would either. ITA that the appliances are a dead giveaway, but other factors can be the number of windows, lighting, ceiling height, etc. I am not a purist tho, and happily mix antiques with vintage and new stuff and don't worry about it, maybe purists need it to be seamless.
