help how do I 'spice' up our love life

My husband of 26 years really has no interest in me anymore we have 3 children and got married when we were 18 and 19.

Is his "disinterest" unique to you or does he seem kind of bored with everything these days?

Was your sexual interaction good before? How long ago was "before"?

Is he actually disinterested (head trouble) or is he unable to perform (body trouble)?

Is he concerned about this or are you the only one concerned?

Early forties pretty young to lose ALL interest....if that's what you're saying.

Please, get him to the dr. for a complete physical. At his age, there could be medical reasons why he's unable to perform (and since no guy is going to admit that, they feign disinterest). Some of the medical causes can be serious like prostate cancer. Others can be things like a side effect of drugs he's taking for something else. But he needs to be thoroughly checked over, before you start worrying about spicing up things in the bedroom.

Get him a clean bill of physical health first. Then make sure there isn't anything phychological/emotional going on (like depression). Then it will be time to start working on the spice.

Look, I lost my dad way too early to prostate cancer--he had to have it in his mid/late 40's, BUT he ignored things until it was way too late for him. That was 30 years ago. Today, there are much better treatments for the disease--and found early it's rarely a death sentence these days. You obviously love him, so make it your business to encourage him to be checked every year so you can have him around for a good long time.

Of course, it is nature's cruel joke that we turn into sexual maniacs when our hormones go out of whack in our 40's, just at the time when men's bodies are slowing down. Doesn't seem fair, does it?

Oh boy.If he isnt satisfied with his size,he is going to be insecure about things. Someone else I know had the same issue with her husband. Questions... You guys have kids? Why does he go to bed at 5 or 6pm and get up at 11pm? Do these hours conflict with yours? Every sex life goes through ups and downs.The key is,to find the reason it is doing so.Are you both getting enough sleep? Are you working too much? Are you stressed about things? Need a break from kids? A change of scenery? When this happens to me and my husband,we have very open communication,so we talk about it. We try to figure out together what is going on. Then it's a baby-sitter for our child,a night on the town,and maybe a nice hotel room. Other times it's something as simple as turning off the tv! You'd be surprised how many missed chances come from the tv. With your husband sounds like you need to make it clear it IS NOT HIS SIZE that is the problem,but that you need more time and a variety of ways. It is actually quite common for women to not be able to "get there". Maybe if your husband is kind enough if you cant "get there" with intercourse he could help you in some other way???

I suppose one could chastise you for all of the things you have done wrong, but you asked for advice so I will throw in my two cents. You were (are) in a marriage that is failing and you are choosing to put that failure all on yourself - stop right there. Neither one of you was putting your full effort into the situation. He doesn't follow through with his promises to land a job and then won't follow you to your next job? He needs to stay with/follow you. There is no reason for him to stay behind (no job and your daughter is not in school, yet). Yeah, you cheated. And he is taking advantage of that instead of trying to get things back on track. You are both at fault here. You both decided to 'take a break and see other people'? That is not marriage. And you allowed yourself to believe that the only job you could do is one that takes you away for weeks at a time. You both need to change careers - yours is actually a career change; his is getting off the couch. You need to think about what is best for your daughter. And that would be a stable home life. Not mom or dad gone for 6 weeks at a time. If the marriage does end, then you will surely be forced into a new career if you have any hopes of raising your daughter alone. Would that be so bad? To put your daughter over a career? Careers/jobs can come and go. Your daughter is not so expendable. Do what is best for her.

What I like about Penzeys is they sell almost all of their spices in the little 1/4 cup jars, which really helps me keep my spices fresh, since single-me doesn't use up spices that fast, especially the less common ones. I also love some of Penzeys unique blends. But I have to pay shipping so not much of a cost savings so I only order things once and a while from there, specialty items, etc. I can also get good spices locally so it's all good. I don't throw spices out too often, I just use them a little more liberally if they are older. Chile powders seem to hold up relatively well for me, I don't go thru the hotter stuff very fast. Paprika, on the other hand, looses its delicate flavor fast. But who cares if you are just using paprika for the color. I do some N. African/Middle Eastern and Hungarian cooking and I actually use paprika for the taste. As for having little jars of weird spices on the counter, I hear ya! But in those situations I try to find recipes I like using that ingredient. I love to experiment in the kitchen. Tumeric is so good for you, I have developed a repertoire of recipes using it. BTW, that's another spice that doesn't do well sitting on the shelf for long periods of time. I think that's why a lot of people don't think tumeric has much taste, because the taste it does have seems to fade faster than I can use it up. I like tumeric with rice and peas or spinach. It's the poor man's saffron.

Well, you sure have a nice start there. Love the room, it's a very nice laundry room and your neutral palette will make accesorizing, a snap. If you read the forum you know I'm no deorator so I don't have that much to offer. Sorry. As for art, you could to to Art.com or any of those art/photo sites and search for laundry room art. I was surfing it the other day. There is some really precious artwork out there. Like I said, with your neutral palette, almost anything would go in terms of colors in artwork. Did you do a search of all the forums for "laundry room" or "laundry"? Also, did you search the gallery side of this forum? There is a thread of photo's of just laundry rooms. Good luck,

I agree with the above responses to your post. Your husband may be going through "manopause". Bloodwork can test his hormone levels, as well as other things. Counseling is always a great option, and even if he refuses to go, it sounds like you need it because of your distress over your marriage. It doesn't hurt to ask your husband if the cause of his disinterest is emotional. Perhaps he is suffering from depression. Maybe he would be willing to share his feelings if you showed him a lot of compassion and support. He is obviously suffering in some way. When he does share anything, just say "Thankyou for telling me," and do not punish him in any way, but keep giving him a lot of positive, caring attention. Perhaps he will warm up. Sometimes spouses don't share personal info until they feel it's "safe". Give him time, and take good care of yourself until you two can figure it out.
