I LOVE that period of design too. Lately I've been drawn to the early A&C when there were still traces of Victorian in evidence, and later, when some Deco influences were showing. The Prarie subset of A&C can come off as a little austere, and I like a more colorful, richly textured and detailed space. thebrightspot.com is an excellent source for lighting of this sort, and have excellent prices and service. None are installed yet but here are some of my choices: I'll have 3 of the pendants over the island, 2 over the sink. Frankly, I might have used ones like yours in the sink area if I'd seen them first. I'm worried that a total of 9 of those shades might be too much of a good thing. Ceiling is beadboard with beams. I love each of the elements, but I may be going a little over the top... Using emtek for all the doors, haven't chosen cab hardware yet.

I ended up with tiles from Seneca Tile in their Handmold line. I absolutely love the way the tiles look surrounding my fireplace and they would be just as beautiful on a backsplash. I searched high and low for handmade tiles that weren't $$$ before I went into a more boutique type tile store and found exactly what I was looking for. The link doesn't do the tiles justice at all. For example, the tile picture below is the color "sierra", which on the website looks beigy. IRL, it is far from being beige. Here's an old picture, but you get the idea. Its value- and it's beauty- are in how it was made to be. I would seriously discourage you from covering it up with paint again. (btw, changing the appearance from what it was originally intended to be is not "restoring," it's the opposite!) I would spend some time talking to preservationists and restorers to find out how it would have originally been and what products are appropriate if it does, in fact, need some kind of protective coating. It looks like a real beauty! We stripped our clinker brick fireplace with Multi Strip and it was still a lot of work but so worth it.

Debra - You have a great house! Thank you for posting about the Roycroft Inn. I have put it on my must go visit list! I have black roller shades for my house but they are not installed yet. I ordered Reminisent Black - room darkening from Blinds . com And I am ashamed to say they are still in the box. All 24 shades. We decided on roller shades after visiting the Biltmore last fall. They have dark green shades all over that house and we loved them but green is not part of my deco and black is, so... I did get those paper accordion shades from a Lowes clearance pile when we first moved in and the box had one black and two white shades. I bought a few boxes to try out the color in my LR and decided black was it. Go see if your local Lowes has any and for a couple bucks you could try the black color in a window. For your house I just might go with the green because you have so much green already. Also IDK but I don't think greens have to match. They just have to coexist well, like they do in nature. And that is an arts & crafts thing right? The green that Blinds had is dark dark, almost a black. You can get samples. I just went with the least expensive vinyl ones for room darkening and the quality seems decent but again we have not installed yet. I still have the black accordion ones up in the LR if you want to see a picture.
