Although I can see these two basic pendants styles as working very well in an arts and crafts/mission-influenced design, I don't have a feel for both of them working together in the discreet space of a kitchen. I vote a definite "yes" on pendant #1 for over the peninsula. But, as much I like it in the abstract, the one you're considering for over the sink is a "not so much" for me.

Im thinking you are right, marthavila....since i posted the pics all together, I can see the "sink" one will definitely not work....too different in styles. Im going to find someplace to hang that last one, though!! : )

It's hard to tell from just descriptions, but if I were you I'd rethink the craftsman/colonial combo. "Leaning" toward craftsman is fine. But a lot of craftsman, and especially mission, is going to be out of place in a VA colonial. If I were you, I'd use the remaining elements to bring it back to eclectic, 20th C., which a lot of your stuff is, so that the whole thing looks grown in place, as the house evolved, rather than a particular style that belongs in a different place and time.

For that reason, I think pendant #2 is a much better choice. It has the iron look to go with the rest of your decor, without jumping up and down and pointing, "Mission! Mission!"

#2 for sure- for the reasons plllog said... but would it be crazy to just go for the one you love and put a pair of them on your peninsula? and use #2 (or something even more simple) over your sink??

The two lights work well together with the dark metal lines speaking to each other.

Just a thought.

plllog, thanks for defining my style-eclectic!! Im SO clueless when it comes to this stuff. I know that I like clean lines, symmetry but warmth and comfort, too.
I think I am more "leaning" towards craftsman rather than "doing" craftsman. The Shaker cabinets in Maple, the ORB pendants and the "mission" mullions in the windows are about the only elements that are craftsman...
Anyway, Im still undecided about the pendants..now Im not so sure I want either of those two! HA! But I still love that last one....

I like pendant #2, also, but just had to tell you that I've had that 3rd one saved in my "Inspirations" folder for some time, also. I also have a couple of others saved that are similar in style. I'll try to find them later tonight and post them for you to look at, just for fun :-)

To me #1 says "mission" but like others have said, maybe you don't want to go too much in that direction?

I really like #2, I think it sounds like it will compliment your style without being "too" much of one style or another, if that makes sense. Meaning I can see that with more modern country decor, mission, etc.

The third light is very cool, but it almost looks Moroccan or exotic to me. I know that sometimes those elements pair really well, you see PB and other stores do that a lot, but I think it may be a trend that is waning a little? But if you love it and it won't break the bank I can see it working, depending on the other elements in the room, like baskets and other accessories.

I'm advocating for #1 because it's the cleanest of all the designs and, imo, the least likely to force you into a period "box." Yes, the canopy is "mission-like" but not insistent about it. What does the canopy look like on #2? Regardless, my thinking is that #2 points you in the more in direction of a "rustic/farmhouse" kind of kitchen. # 3, while beautiful, definitely has that Moroccan influence that Kat has noted. Maybe you need to widen your search a bit. Have you considered any of the wrought iron pendants from Hubbardton Forge? I really like this one in particular!:

and it would look great with #2 or the one martha posted...but I have a mercury glass pineapple over my sink and chandys on my island so I don't care about matching obviously! :O)

I like #1 the best, but as others have said the craftsman feel of it might not be right for your house. #2 is also very pretty and would fit in with the style of the house just fine. #3....in my opinion it just doesn't match. It remindes me of 1960's spanish or mexican style. I love the one marthavila posted!

If you really love #3, why not go with that and pick other pendants that work with it?

I agree that you probably don't want to be "too" mission style in your space - especially since it will be open to the other room.

Of the 2 pendants, I'd pick 2 over 1, but if you want something that works with #3,(and depending on your space)

tntw: HA! Thats sort of how I feel...I just ordered the "sink" light just so I can see it IRL. Im not to keen on having to "match" either, but thats probably why my style is called "eclectic" which is a nice word for "a design mess". (At least in my case!)
