The canning equipment issue is not new to me either. A few years ago, I searched locally for a pressure canner in outlets, but found only one and very pricey. Thanks to Linda Lou's graciousness, she supplied me with her old one, and we have been a happy arrangement ever since. But about the BWB canner - I had an old enamel one. It was quite rusty - so I decided to buy a new one. I couldn't use the water for a 2nd canning because of the rust. Happened to find a store in a local mall that sold kitchen equipment, and they had one. Unfortunately, I failed to note that it would not hold quart sizes. Actually it looked tall enough, until I tried it - especially after adding the bottom rack. So be advised - measure any you see for quart sizes with 2 inches of water above the jar tops with rack in when filled. Also, the racks that are normally sold with them, will rust in time, so a stainless steel rack is best, especially with our western hard water. Even a stainless steel rack would be better if they are made with the wires a bit closer together - so that smaller jars won't move around or tip. If I had had the nice pressure canner first, I would certainly just use that for BWB - they are taller and as was mentioned why have extras if they aren't needed. So - I wish I had asked questions first (or known about the wisdom in these forums) - but guess experience is still teaching me anyway. Just my 2 c's. Bejay

Dale I would never be able to describe the exact location of where these morels were found. They were on private property, and I was invited by the owner, or I never would have found it by myself. Now, since she has moved, I'd probably have to trespass or get the new owner's permission. Anyways, you should be happy to know they are to be found in many locations in Oklahoma. Keep tabs on this link, and you should be able to zero in on a good location. I think there's another morel link for Oklahoma as well as this one online. You won't be disappointed if you luck onto a good morel spot. As you will see in the pics in this link, even the homeies love them, lol! Just wait til about April and about four days after a rain. Look for a moist woodland, where some deer and cows have roamed, and there are many such places in Oklahoma. I LOVE morels just about any way you can prepare them. And especially morel soup, or perhaps cut up in small pieces for tempura. A real delicacy. I've been thinking of starting my own little shitake patch. You can buy the spores of those online and perhaps other varieties as well. Dawn I can relate to the harvesting, canning and preserving fatigue. Getting kind of tired of it myself, so when dinner time rolls around and it's just me, it's catch as catch can from the garden. I really do hate to see the summer crops dwindling. Okra not bearing well. The cucumbers that store boughts will NEVER be able to rival are just about kaput. I still have tons of BIG tomatos that haven't ripened yet. Since it's been dry, with no recent rain, I've been allowing them to store up all that deliciousness and not get soggy or insipidly flavorless, so they have been amazing! Especially enjoying the Indian Stipes, which were not new to you, but certainly a delightful first for me. I'm hoping I don't get stuck with having to can jars of pickled tomatos or green tomato relish. I like it, but there's only so much of it I can eat. Today's menu was simply one of my baked buttercup squash, (just the right size for me), with butter and brown sugar, and cooked to pieces pole beans. Since I don't have a family to cook for, sometimes I kind of 'batch' and my folks used to call it. We ordered through local plumbing store, although online was cheaper. We decided that between added shipping costs/possible damage/missing parts problems we would try locally. Our local dealer was happy to match online price: $420 Toto Ultramax, elongated, white, sanigloss, and $320 for the Toto Drake, same as above. We did the same for our Panasonic Whispersoft fans, took a printout of online store. Initially they refused saying they would lose money at that price. The store called me back and ordered fans for me at the online price, which were 1/3 of their retail price.

For the record National Builder Supply is not my store. Im a retired disabled accountant and dont work for nor am I employed by anyone. I do write a blog about DIY subjects and give NBS credit for it because Marcus Morgan, who is the owner of NBS, is a friend and in whom I trust for his business ethics. The blog clearly says that so I never try to hide anything. I also publish blogs on "DIY Chatroom.com", Hubnet, Articles.com, How-to.com and many others and I dont own them either. I buy things from NBS like anyone else most recently a Toto Washlet. Anyone who would look at my vast writings (2400+ on google alone) would see that I often mention many vendors and products that have nothing to do with NBS both here and on many other discussion groups in which I participate. When I see something that will help someone to get something quickly, or at a good price I try to pass that on no matter who the vendor is. As an example I recently wrote a blog on a carpet install special at Home Depot (which I certainly dont own) and when I redid a small bathroom 2 mouths ago I bought a great vanity and bath sink faucet from HD also and wrote about that. I diligently try to help people and pass my days and reading articles to pass my days of being confined to a chair or bed and would rather if someone is going to impune me that they at least know the truth.

just got back from Ulta, needed Bare Escentuals & OPI nail polish & philosophy bath gel for my sis b-day, $100. going to our sat. stop at borders for coffee & a new crochet book, Lowe's, Marketplace (wal-mart grocery store) and then bait shop (dh's only stop lol).

we are supposed to be clearing out the master bedroom for new carpeting (2/22) but even thou i HATE the grocery store i'd rather do that than clean lol ~ liz

You all are SO lucky! I have not been shopping since last Friday. Was looking for snow boots at the mall, but only brought a scarf. After being hit by two snowstorms, I went to work yesterday for the first time in a week. Rode with a neighbor. Luckily DH made sure I had enough food before he left. He comes back tonight - had to tell him to take a cab home from the airport, as I still can't get out. Our street is a mess, with big chunks of snow and ice. I'm hoping to get out tomorrow.

I put our tree service for next summer on my credit card today to take advantage of their 5% discount. $807.30 -- a biggie because it's been three years since we treated our Century Elm against Dutch Elm Disease. The rest is spring spraying of hawthorns. They'll also do a fall lawn aereation.

Just got that set up and in the mail this afternoon is the Scott's fertilizer plan for 2010 -- another $500+.

For this kind of money we should have a vegetable garden!

Mine was tonight from the WalMart online store. The snow was so heavy that it toppled my umbrella on the back porch. There was nothing wrong with the umbrella pole but the cast iron stand it had been in finally gave way, it had been rusting out,
I looked online for a new one and the styles available and then remembered Walmart. They ship it to my store for free.

My son and I went to ROSS last night...got some great buys on clothes for my boys and some peanut brittle for hubster and a wonderful box for my coffee table to store things in...it looks like a book and has Mona Lisa on the cover..I keep fingernail files, the tv remotes, clippers, and things you want at your fingertips in it!

Target. Party size Stouffer's entrees were on sale, so I got a couple of them. I live alone so one easily makes about 9-10 meals for me. I eat one out of the oven then freeze the rest for a handy meal when needed.

Besides the grocery store yesterday, I bought a pair of boots at a little shoe store called 'The Foot Path'. I already owned them in brown but I love them so much that I picked up a pair in black.

I don't know how to post a photo from a website inside a thread but I have never received as many compliments on anything I have ever owned.

Sams club. I bought their bags of Grouper fillets, got 2 of the bags. I like to have them for a quick meal. The fillets are perfect size for a grilled grouper sandwich.
Bought their bag of Angus hamburger patties, I like them too for quickey meals.
We needed the Omega-3-6-9 tablets so I got 2 bottles of them.
Milk...a bag of 3 different kinds of dried cherries. I can not eat oatmeal (naked) so I add a few dried cherries and it makes the oatmeal go down better...:o))
Oh and light bulbs.
