Before brushing makes more sense to me and that's my routine. You're getting stuff out from between and on your teeth first. I'd hope Dr. Oz at least rinses after flossing.

My dental hygenist always flosses my teeth AFTER cleaning.

I swish with a little bit of mouthwash before I floss, to kill germs that might get under my gums during the process.

Then I floss, and finish by brushing my teeth.

Floss before brushing is my routine. But I also might floss extra times during the day if I've eaten something that gets stuck like beef or chicken.

Should you floss your teeth before or after you brush?
It doesn't much matter which you do first, brushing or flossing. There is a school of thought that suggests that you should floss your teeth first and then brush afterwards. The idea is that your tooth brushing activities can aid in removing the food and dental plaque debris that has been dislodged by your flossing efforts but not yet expelled from between your teeth. While we don't feel strongly one way or another on this topic, we do feel that it is important that you swish your mouth with water or mouthwash at some point after you have flossed, so the debris you have loosened up is rinsed out of your mouth.

Despite having had four teeth extracted before braces, my teeth are thisclose together. It's a real struggle to floss. I use a rubber 'pick' to remove plaque, then brush, then rinse. I have few 'real' teeth anyway -- multiple crowns, inlays, etc. Some of my earliest memories are of going to the dentist! (Pre-fluoride Senior here.)

BTW I only realized as an adult that I was taught to brush the inner and outer surfaces, but not the *chewing surfaces* of my teeth. Duh.

I floss, ,then brush. When I brush I finish by brushing my tongue. Makes sense to me. When you floss, you loosen the placque and food between teeth, then the brush removes it.

My dental hygienist says it doesn't really matter. I like to floss before brushing at night. In the morning I will floss after since there isn't any food trapped and flossing is strictly for gum health then.

I am a floss addict. I carry little floss packs or little interdental brushes with me everywhere. everywhere. Can't stand the feeling of something between my teeth.

My dental hygenist recommended that I floss after brushing and while there is still tooth paste in my mouth. The dentrifice aids the flossing. Then thoroughly rinse after the flossing is done. I floss once a day. Works for me.

A shopper in the pharmacy dept. said to do it before brushing ... if you do it after, it clears out all of the fluoride.
