That Imodium ad at the top of KT is driving me crazy!

It keeps expanding then collapsing when I go to and from posts. It is driving me nuts! Is there anyway to stop it from doing that or getting rid of it?

I went to click on "Return to Kitchen Table" and it expanded and I clicked on it and it opened a new page. I know the ads pay for the forum, etc but I don't have to like annoying ones like this one.

I'm about ready to head out of here today. Everytime I click on one post, I get another one, because of that darned add. It's especially annoying for a migraine sufferer to have the print on the screen jumping up and down.

EXTREMELY Annoying...now I know I will never buy Imodium or Elation.

Take it from me what CR says about Thermador wall ovens is absolutely true. I have purchased two 30" C series Thermador ovens and am getting ready to replace the one that was existing in the home we purchased last year. Loved the way my Thermador's cooked, baked, and broiled but had to have them repaired. It seems there is insufficient insulation between the oven and the electric control panel and when you use the self clean, over time, it causes the control panel to fail. This is a minimum $1,000 repair. I live in Dallas and there is only ONE company in this area that will service Thermador ovens because Thermador service dept is so difficult to deal with. My regular service company which is efficient and costs are fair told me they stopped servicing Thermador ovens for that reason and three others I tried said the same thing. Both my Thermador ovens needed the control panel replaced within three years of purchasing and the one in our new home could not pass inspection and had to be repaired by the seller before we moved in - yep it was the panel and it cost them $1,200. They didn't cook and it was an older oven. The space we have for the wall oven is 27" and after looking and looking and doing research and reading here and other web sites with independent reviews by actual owners we have chosen the Miele Master Chef Classic Series which has the Novatronic controls which everyone seems to love. This choice was made in part because of the rotisserie feature which we do use quite a bit along with other features we liked and which were well reviewed. It was more expensive but we went with a straight Microwave which suites our needs and we chose the Electrolux Ei27MO45TS microwave which meets all our needs and was well reviewed. Went with the Miele warming drawer because of the match and the fact that it was the same price as most other warming drawers we were considering. We stack our ovens in an unusual way which we really like with the actual wall oven first, then the microwave, and then the warming drawer. It is logical to us because the heaviest items come out of the oven and having it at the top means no stooping and it's easier on the back. We usually only use the warming drawer when we entertain and to reheat leftovers which it does so much better than a microwave. Still trying to decide on which Fridge and Freezer columns to choose but that's another forum

Ms222 Oh my, what a great house on the water. You love modern...really nice table and chairs. If you go all modern and plan on keeping the same kitchen floor plan you will have to replace all the doors top and bottom, eliminate the two short staggered cabinets on top and add cabinets in their place on the same line as the others. Eliminate the upper moldings style and backsplash; the countertop would work fine as is. Eliminate the chair rails and replace all interior doors. I would paint your walls in a flat paint and see how you like it and then decide when or if to eliminate the texture. When I painted my son's textured walls in Behr porpoise gray flat paint we had to touch the walls to even know the texture was there. However, it's hard to see how much texture you have in your pictures and we don't know if there is texture behind the chair rails. Anyway, after all that you'll have a good start on transforming it all to a completely different look. I know it might seem overwhelming but once you get a start on it it will be fun. I almost envy you because I'm a gal who needs projects and mayhem; I'm in limbo now just fixing things up to sell for a future downsize. Not fun! In my next house I'm hoping to do a completely different style. I want to buy the little stinky 60's house across the street from the waterfront mansions. Then I plan on becoming their very bestest friend and ride around in their yacht lol. Jill, please post after you go to the NY store and tell us of the quality. I have never actually touched Lillian August furniture. I really love so many things on the online site though and like the fact that there are a few things in my price range. Of course all the sofa's and chairs I really love are at the highest prices... boo Looking forward to your report!

justgotabme - the fan is from Triarch Industries and is part of the Corisca line. More info here. I actually came across it trying to find a completely different fan for the great room. All ceiling fans I've owned previously had either no lights, or individual shade downlights, so I have no idea what to expect. Seeing it in a store - unfortunately I can't. WISH I could! No one (and I have called everyone I can find including my builder's supplier) carries this particular item in stock. Several offers to special order, but none to go see. I've emailed both the manufacturer and several online retailers of the fan asking some specifications, including whether or not the top & bottom lights can be controlled separately. Awaiting their reply. It would make sense that a top light ceiling fan would strobe, I'm just not sure if having a bottom light also would cancel it out. The reviews I can find for it are all positive, but none comment specifically on the light, just "love love love this fan." I did manage to find this, re: strobe effect on dish lights with ceiling fans, if anyone is interested: Unfortunately, this is a common problem with ceiling fans that have a downlight, which is why many manufacturers are now building fans that include an uplight. My suggestion would be to dim the downlight (or turn it off) and set the uplight to its brightest intensity. This will minimze the the problem because the uplight will help wash out the blade shadows created by the downlight. If you turn the downlight off altogether and only use the uplight, the problem will be elminated.

Luann is right! Changing your browser to Firefox should take care of the problem. I don't get any ads here.

I don't see that, or any other ads.

If you are using IE I believe there is a pop-up blocker there somewhere. I use Firefox with Adblock.

Don't blame Imodium, it could well be your browser and settings! :0)

I am using IE and I do have the pop up blocker on which blocks most of them. This must be a different kind of ad with the opening and closing so it gets by the pop up blocker. Maybe I will try Firefox.

My IE protects me at other sites from these pop-up ads, but is not working for this one, and yes, it is VERY frustrating.

Yes, it's driving me nuts-o. How long does this last anyway? I have a pop-up blocker but it's not doing anything about this ad. Very frustrating & irritating!

I'm totally annoyed...as a matter of fact their advertising like this doesn't work with me, because I didn't realize that it was Imodium until I read this thread. Now I will probably go out of my way to avoid buying this product, although I know it's not their fault. Maybe they'll be able to control how their ad is shown if they know we won't buy it because of this method. My opinion only.

You have to close it out EVERY page then it won't keep "bouncin" you around. I hate it too.

I don't see it, but I have noticed that if I am not logged in then I see ads all over the place. As soon as I log in they disappear.

I hate that ad too, but if you ever have the problem that Imodium is for you'll be happy to buy it.

It's driving me nuts also,and like the other poster i'm not sooooooooooooooo computor savvy that i can start adding other browsers just to get rid of it.This is the only site i have problems with the ads,and that immodium one is like a mexican jumping bean,bouncing all over the darn place.

I have to agree the ad is driving me nuts too! I use IE and have a blocker but this one gets through. Hard to read the threads because it keeps bouncing back and forth. I also seem to have problems going back to the main page.
How do you get and install firefox?
Is it Vista compatable? I've had tons of troubles with this new machine...scared to try anything on it.

If you are a member and sign in, it goes away - I just did so, and it's gone.

Maddielee, I can't really answer your question, but I guess it has something to do with the way iVillage codes the ads. And of course you don't have to add another browser. It is kinda like taking an aspirin if you have a headache I guess.

I do know that if I have a problem, any problem, that upsets me I do whatever it takes to solve the problem.

Don't be afraid of trying something new on your computer. That is part of the fun. :0)

Firefox has many features that IE doesn't. IE is popular because it comes on your machine and therefore it is ready to go. There are other browsers that are available also. I prefer FF.

I suggest following the link and just read up on FF. Then decide.

IE here with a pop up blocker and I don't see any ads. Only time I ever to is once in a blue moon I have to log back in, and then they go away.

I am signed in and I still get the ad. I had to go away from GW for awhile because it is on every forum. I really hate it when they do this.

At least its not just me! I have IE ....can't block this one. Designers need to change this or else loose alot of people. Besides it is making me very snitty at the Imodium people too!

I'm logged in and I have firefox and adaware. It is still coming up. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, if anything.

I'm also logged in and still get it.I logged off and went to eat dinner.I came back,and when i clicked on the "sewing forum",it bounced just as i did it and i got the "Grieving forum" instead.Took me a minute to figure out what happened.

Stupid AD !!!

I'm glad I scrolled down, I was just about to start a thread re: this annoying ad. I just had my computer cleaned out and serviced and don't usually have any problem with pop-ups, but this one is really obnoxious.

No problem here. I had a similar problem last year with the South Beach ads. I switched to Opera (for my mac) and I've never had any problems since. Firefox didn't stop those ads, either.

Opera isn't compatible with some of the video sites, but I switch to firefox or IE when I need to.

Kathy 813, I'm logged in and have FireFox and I still get the ad. When you downloaded FF did you also download the extension ADBLOCK?

Scissors, I'm logged in and I have firefox and adaware. It is ADBLOCK that you want with FF. You should also have AdAware, it is Anti SpyWare.

Have any of you contacted Tamara and expressed your displeasure?

It disappeared because everyone was complaining about it and many said they will never buy the product. I emailed iVillage..
