It seemed to me that it could fall under the political ban - so it doesn't surprise me that it was pulled. I think they use a broad definition of political.

Why not just take it to the Hot Topics forum? Then everyone who posts to it won't also get a reprimand.

I don't know how iVillage works, but when Spike had GW, he had it programmed so that certain words would trigger an alert, which could lead to it being pulled. Would be interesting to know if that is what happened.

I had a thread pulled for the first time a few weeks ago. I emailed & respectfully asked "why?". The response was that it wasn't my fault, but that it had veered off topic & was becoming "disruptive". Made no sense to me (since when to we have to stick right on topic?), but I thought "whatever", it had essentially run its course anyway.

So I guess you could email & request an explanation? Oh, by the way, they said they had emailed me @ the time of the pulling with the explanation but apparently that email didn't go thru. Strange.

Anyway, the reference to Teacups comes from being sent to Disneyland. When Spike chose to reprimand a poster he "sent" them to the Disney web site. That came to be referred to as "riding the teacups." All in good fun.

Then Disney heard about it and didn't like the idea of a trip to Disneyland being seen as punishment, so it was stopped.

That is the explanation as I know it.

Spike was the owner, he made the rules. Just like I, and most people make the rules about what goes on in their business, or homes.

I'm not sure if I remember Spike being around or just references to him. I've hung around here for 5 or 6 years but seldom posted. Mostly I was on the garden side.

Heck, even when kids get into a hassle ... tell the other that they never want to see them again ...

I've had some pulled, in the past, also - but never been banned (so far). Back in the days of Spike's oversight ... I got sent to Disney a couple of times ...

... and wondered what the heck was going on. It was a while before I realized what was up!

Remember when someone sent out a bunch of emails, cooking up a post-renovation party (for the house - not the person, in case you're wondering) for one of the regulars, and not wanting to spill the beans to the person in question ...

... and got their email blocked, as admin. figured that they were soliciting (or something).

Several of us had to write them, telling them that everything was O.K. - and it took a while for the banned one to get reinstated.

I hope that you are having a fine old week - we've had some snow here - but far less than down the U.S. eastern seaboard - heck, it even shut Washington down! Imagine that !
