I was on Estriol compounded as it is not sold in U.S. but is in other countries. 2 1/2 months had to stop using as it made me ill. I realized later it was ordered too strong . My Gyn was also an Ob and specialized in adolescent pregnancy. What was I thinking !! Started very disturbing symptoms about 2 months after the end of Estriol. Profuse sweating, followed by chills, rapid increase in heart rate (over 130), dizziness and nausea in the middle of the night, night after night. I was so exhausted I ended up passing out and in the hospital. First Cardiologist, then Endocrinologist and finally going next week to GYN specialist. Of course went through the "you must be having anxiety" talk. Did I mention I am a retired Major in the Army Nurse Corps and psychiatric trained Reg. Nurse. I only mention this as I was almost starting to believe them. Thank GOD, and I mean this, I started to do my own research. Hot Flashes and Night Sweats with severe vasomotor reaction, very common. Hot Flashes, HOT FLASHES...............what's a girl to do? I'll tell you what to do. You look for alternatives that will help to lessen the symptoms that come out of nowhere to make your life miserable and crazy! I suffered with them for quite awhile and then I decided to try a few things to help alleviate the hot flashes and the night sweats or make them more bearable. Someone had suggested using a satin pillowcase, because they are smooth and the fabric is nice and cool. Trust me, it works, Especially when you flip the pillow over. The second thing I do and what I have to found to work best for me is an eye pillow, right out of the freezer. I keep it there so its ready at a moments notice. I use a peppermint scented one because it opens up my sinuses and that helps me to breathe a lot better and helps any sinus or tension related headaches. The cold flax seed inside the eye pillow surrounds my eyes, temples, forehead and cheeks. You will be amazed at just how much relief and comfort you will get. The weight of the flax seed applies just enough acupressure to soothe and relax your facial muscles so your not so tense and uncomfortable . The eye pillow also blocks out all light so you can truly relax and get some needed rest. I searched online and found several sites that had them. The one I decided to go with was A Touch Of Satin. I liked them because their ingredients were organic, and that was important to me. They had an unbelievably large selection of patterns and I like the feel of satin on my skin. They also had a page on their site that talked about the benefits of their aromatherapy scents. They had lavender as well and that is suppose to be very calming and they also had them unscented. Hi Karoni. I do not have predictable hot flashes. I may get 1 hot flash per day or multiple ones or none for a few days. I do not feel warmer than normal when I`m not having a hot flash, I just feel the same as everyone else in my surroundings. I do not sweat more than I used to, while doing the same things. If you are sweating a bit more than usual and feeling warmer when not having a hot flash, you could be hyperthyroid, in addition to being menopausal. I would get your thyroid checked out just to be sure that your body temperature fluctuations are purely menopausal and not also due to any thryoid malfunction.

REMEMBER homeopathic medicines should be used with care, just as any other medication being prescribed. If you are using homeopathic medicines make sure you let your regular physician know. There can be the same interactions, side effects and problems with homeo as wstrn meds. Black Cohosh is a fairly good remedy for hot flashes and it also relieves mild cramping. I used it for a short time. There are side effects that can be harmful. Besides the fact most people don't take it correctly. You should be on a, use for a few months/stop using few months, cycle. If you are still experiencing menstrual cycles you do not want to use it. It will cause extreme heavy discharges. If you are planning any surgery stop taking it at least one month before. Emergency surgery? Well bleeding out has been known to happen. Cuts or wounds take longer to heal and bleeding is much harder to stop so have a topical coagulating agent (stepic pencil or such) around. I have constant nicks and cuts happening on my hands and fingers while gardening and or crafting.
