I could just SCREAM!

Okay... I have some hormone related itching... I THINK it's from menopause... I itch like I've walked through poison oak... I've taken benadryl and it doesn't help so I think it must be menopausal... anyway, I've been swimming a lot, and that must interfere with my MenoCream or something... I have been having to up the dose... and while I am waiting I just itch and itch and itch!

Plus, I am SWELLING! is that hormonal? My feet at the end of the day are like potatoes... and I swim and walk... I DO get exercise...

Can't imagine. Are women cursed or what? Maybe you should check with the doc. Are you eating a lot of salt? Maybe an alergy?

If there is no rash appearing, you most likely have the cursed menopause itch..mine feels more like something is crawling on me and I continously am swatting at nothing! swelling is indeed a symptom.. your retaining alot of fluid evidently.. time to go have a chat with your physician who perhaps can supply some relief.

Still all coming up rabbits here...it's got to be bad, since the kids now greet me in the evening by whispering "It's vewwy, vewwy quiet, we are hunting wabbits!" and pointing out the two on the lawn, which then go scurrying as we chase them. None of the deterrents have had any except (other than the rotten egg smelling one, which deterred me from the roses!) The rabbits didn't seem to mind a bit. They stepped right over the milorganite to chow down. I tried clearing the area they're hiding in, but there appears to be a whole bunch of babies in an area I can't clear. Finally, I got little fence circles around all of the new plants, and even then I screwed up with one and they got through a spot on the bottom and chomped at it. Once the new roses were fenced, they went after the cone flower (they can only get at the bottom though) and chowed on my annuals. So I've just ordered one of those Havahart rabbit traps, to try to relocate these fellows OUT of my garden. I've no idea whether there are tricks to setting/baiting these those (what to use? carrots?) so if anyone has caught and relocated critters from their gardens, let me know.

Considering the lack of green stuff in West Texas, have a heart, them little varmints gotta eat something---foreign and tasty preferred. The West Texas varmints that give me fits are squirrels, snails and cottontail rabbits.! Lots of times they don't eat the plants just chew off the leaves then spit them out if they don't like the taste, or, dig 'em up to see what other goodies might be buried there. I guess for those expensive Japanese MG seeds we may have to start 'em in a pot inside to let them get some growth before taking them outside.

I'm right there with you. I was out of town for work all week and our contractor was not returning calls. DH called him like 5 times. He reponded to an e-mail from me on Wednesday noting that he went out of town for a few days with friends?!?!? Our project is MONTHS behind and he goes on a vacation? I finally got him on the phone today to learn that a truss beam needs replacing. The house was to be done on 4/17/07 (started ages ago) but now all this time later he just discovered the truss work was not done properly. The only saving grace is he is paying the interest payments going forward until the house is complete. And he will pay the extension fee should one be required. Our construction loan ends on June 18.

Hi abddeb--it's actually the eased, laminated edge that is shown in gpraceman's pic. There was no additional charge for that edge, and I wanted the more contemporary look of the eased edge. I realized there was a mitered option before I had the countertops fabricated, and was tempted, because I too was worried about the seam showing, but I talked to a few people and decided to go with the laminated edge. I think, as others have pointed out, that the laminated edge would likely be more visible in a stone or product with a lot more variation/movement. Glad I did the laminated edge--saved money and I think the end result is great. Funny, when I talked to fabricators in the area where this house is (CA), the assumption was 2cm--of course I could pay more to have 3cm, but that wasn't the norm! The sink is a 30" stainless steel Krauss (a GW favorite--I sent back the first sink I ordered after seeing the reviews here). It's a deep single bowl sink. It is fascinating to see the differences in regional preferences!

arum, the strange thing is that since menopausing, I have rather been intolerant of salt... things that I liked to eat before seem excessively salty...so I know that I've cut down... BUT, I live in a Japanese household, can you say shoyu (soy) sauce? :o) or can you say somen? :o) I could probably cut down further...
I see the ole doc on the 17th... but he's not much on menopause, unfortunately, and I JUST saw the Gyno doc and I didn't think to mention it to her %$#@!*&^! and I try to bring notes! I was too busy having the ole feet in the stirrups, I guess. Well, it's always reassuring to KNOW that it's menopausal... even though I've tried benadryl both internally and externally, so I was pretty sure it wasn't allergies, though I am kinda the HIVE queen! :o) That kinda works huh, hives and being the queen? :o)

Maybe you could just give the Doc a call? Sorry you're having so many agravating symptoms. Hope you find some relief soon. How about a cool bath with baking soda? :)

I've had similar itching symptoms that I've characterized as "transient hives" -- itching will start in one place, even a small rash, and be gone an hour later, migrating to another spot, and so on. It started a while ago while I knew I was beginning perimenopause...I think I'm in fulll meno now (no period for 15 months now, or even a hint of one).

Benadryl and the other itching lotions don't make a dent. BUT I've discovered that Alavert (Loratidine, aka Claritin) helps immensely.

The itchies haven't been bad lately.

That's EXACTLY how I've been having it... the migrating itchies! :o) Hmmm Claritin helps? I found if I upped my dose of progesterone cream, that helps too. I will try the Claritin, which is easy to get....

the 'creepy-crawlie' skin sensation was the first sign I had of perimenopause. Never found a fix for it, but for fluid retention, some home remedies work fairly well for me:

eat cucumbers, asparagus

drink a tea made with dried orange peel. The deeper the pigmentation, the better. I forget the name of the orange, but one is almost red. That one's quite good

tea made with juniper berries.
