Meeting my son, his wife, and grandson for Sunday brunch.

THEN DIL and I are off to see Riverdance. My 3rd, her first.

She called me, yesterday, all excited.

Should be a good day.

Weather to be in the low 60's!

It's stormy here. We are supposed to get 15 - 25 cm of snow and high winds. After lunch I'm going to make the sauce for the ribs for our Super Bowl supper (sloooow- cooked in the oven). While the ribs are cooking and DH is watching the pre-game hype, I'm going to build a fire in the fireplace, crack open a nice bottle of red wine, and read all afternoon. Then we'll have supper and watch the game. Hope it's a good one and not a blowout!

Nothing special here today, Glenda, except cooking some treats for the big game. We're going to overload on goodies. LOL!

I'm really glad to hear your DIL is excited about Riverdance ... are these the tickets, that she wasn't particularly gracious about receiving? I hope you have a wonderful, wonderful time! We had the nice weather yesterday, today is definitely cooling down.

I've been watching this thread because I too am a newbie to lasagna beds. I see much helpful information. I do have a question, well many but I'm only asking one. I have rocky clay soil and thought I would try this lasagna thing. I actually scalped the bermuda from the area but added it back to the lasagna. I started with layers of newsprint. Then added things I already had on hand. I used the soil from the prep work, pine mulch, moldy leaf debris from the rock pile you see in the pic, leftover soil from planters including the deadroots in it, some shredded paper, had about 20 lbs of regular potting soil. Then I went to the frig and found some spent celery, lettus and some green onions. Chopped this up and added the salad to the mix. I tossed it all together and added it the bed. I soaked the paper before adding any of my mix and kept watering as I was adding the mix. It was rather soupy. Now, here's my question. I then covered it with black plastic and lined the edges with brick. I thought that baking the lasagna would speed up the break down process.I have read that others use clear plastic. Is that just to be able to see whats going on underneath or does it have to do with the sun actually getting to the mulch mixture? I finished the bed Wed. night (7-16-08) and last night I looked under the plastic which had lots of heat escaping but it seemed dry so I sprayed more water under there. Oops, Guess I had 2 questions. 1. Color of plastic to cover? 2. Should I spray with water to keep it moist? Before I started Bed with some soil mixture, I added more. Covered with the black plastic I don't mean to barge in someone else thread but I thought others looking for information may appreciate finding it in one location. Please advise. This just might be the big one - so far! Coming down a mile a minute up here; what's left standing in the gardens is fast disappearing. And if we're lucky enough to have all this stay on the ground for the season, the gardens will be well insulated. I have a crew that automatically comes to do the snow blowing and shoveling when it stops so I get to sit tight. Did errands yesterday; got all my paint and supplies to finally redo the den - but there's a little prep work before jumping into that. This might be the perfect opportunity to get the tree up or dig out the never fail cookie recipes.

The weather is nice. I'm home alone. I can do anything I want to do...and I am staying home. ;)

Yesterday we hit the upper 30's!! BUT, the wind was blowing 40mph and according to DHs' weather station we had a gust of 50mph. Wasn't the best day. Today will be more of the wind and less warm air:

Partly sunny. Localized areas of blowing and drifting snow in the afternoon. Windy. Highs in the upper 20s. Northwest winds 20 to 25 mph increasing to around 30 mph in the afternoon.

I am making a ham in the crockpot for supper, DS will be up to watch the game with DH and eat with us.

Mine should be real nice as I'm going to a Club for the SB! For only $15 we get all this--4pm hors d'oeuvres--5:30 Steak din with all the trimmings---half time--Hot dogs etc--plus its an open bar!

TYhat's great Glenda.
It's 59Â° outside right now and I haven't even been out there yet except to feed the birds early this morning.

After I pick Anna up from my mom's we are going shopping for a few personal items for her, then we are going to stop by my ex husban's and his wife's house to look through some old photos.

When we get home from there I am going to change clothes then go out front and cut down a vine I decided I don't want.

I'm working on our food menu for tonight. DH is making wings. I'm thinking of mozzarella sticks, chips and dip, not sure what else.

Oh Glenda, I have always wanted to see Riverdance and wish I was going too.

It is 50 here in IN already and sunny, though the expected high was to have only been 45.

I don't know what I will do yet, but know I won't be bored as there is always so much I need or just 'want' to do.

Glenda.....just wanted to say "enjoy the show". I have also been to Riverdance 5 times so far, and I could go at least once every year!!!! I LOVE that show.
