I'm always looking for "the perfect" in the following items:

perfect comfort shoes--stylish, easy on the feet, but not looking too "orthopedic"

perfect bed pillow (most often too hard, too soft, etc.)

perfect photograph (I've taken a few I like, mostly of my kids, but I'm always trying to get another really GOOD one!)

Well, I have found the perfect shoes...Clarks clogs. Almost happy with a "neck roll" instead of a pillow. Almost perfect coffee from my one cup coffee maker (how come the smell of coffee can be so strong elsewhere and hot at home?) . And, I know there will be a "perfect" winter day soon, when our false spring gets here....soon, I hope.

I'm always searching for the perfect decor for my home, the perfect vacation and I used to seek the perfect man, but I've given up on that and will keep the one I've had for a long time. ps: He's not perfect, but neither am I.

I'm loving this thread. I haven't been out weeding, deadheading etc. in the last two weeks or so because I've been on deadline for a work project. And it's been killing me, because this has been almost perfect gardening weather in southern California, perhaps some of the last we'll see before everything seriously starts to fry. Tick. Tick. Tick. All of us hear it at one time of the year or another - that relentless internal clock we use to measure time slipping away as important garden tasks that "must" be accomplished get deferred. Or cancelled. Prune the fig tree? Too late. This season's figlets have already formed. Prune now and I'll have a beautifully shaped fig tree. And no figs. So I was thinking how neglected the garden was looking when I found an unsigned note in my mailbox on a bright blue index card: "Thanks for having such a pretty front garden. The colors are a beautiful addition to my morning walks." In the eye of the beholder, indeed. And yes, absolutely, it is the journey. What you don't realize until you've been traveling on that road for awhile, however, is that all the time you thought you were changing the garden, the garden was changing you. Kay

Toys: I have about 15 clear plastic bins with handles filled with toys for visiting grandkids -- small blocks, cars, old Fisher-Price, etc., all stacked in a hall closet. The general rule is "one box out of the closet at a time," although on occasion we've combined boxes for different kinds of play. It was quite an effort to teach the concept of "we must pick this box up before getting another one out" -- a 30 minute tearful standoff with a two year old comes to mind -- but now it's second nature. I know this can't be done this strictly with toddlers at home, but for a grandma's house, it works great! Cooking: When I start to cook or bake something, I fill one side of the sink with very hot, soapy water, and open the dishwasher. Every utensil, bowl, etc. goes immediately either into the sink or the dishwasher. When I'm finished cooking, clean-up is a breeze: Shut the dishwasher, swipe or rinse off the soaked dishes in the sink, wipe up the counter, and the kitchen is basically clean. Kitchen organization: I know this goes against the rule here of "Less is more" but I have multiples of quite a few kitchen things. Example: The cupboard next to the fridge is Sandwich/Snack Central. I keep specific glasses and mugs there, paper plates, and a specific, inexpensive, set of flatware. No running around the kitchen when fixing a sandwich, drink, or snack because everything is at hand. Adds just a bit of complexity to the sorting step of emptying the dishwasher but it sure simplified life. Because I run the dishwasher only every 3 days, I have multiple spatulas, measuring spoons, and a few other things I use constantly. For me, sometimes "more is easier."

Not a stripe per se, but an overall vertical pattern, and perhaps a bit more fun in keeping with your more casual decor in the room" floral leaves Or this one: geometric circle As others have suggested, you can also purchase fabric and have them made, and find perhaps just what you are seeking. Here is one stripe that mightwork for you: seres spring Be sure to think about down or imitation down pillows, as they can be more easily shaped to sit nicely on leather furniture. More rigid foam pillows tend to hold their shape, and slide down on the leather rather than sitting nicely on the corners of the seating.

Thanks everyone for your help!!! You are the best!!! Thanks Lazy gardens. I really like that green. That is a very good point about using a less muted color with the white quartz. clt3-the 700 sq feet is actually the dimensions of the bathroom floor, walk in closet floor, and shower. But I could use a cheaper tile for the floor. I have a sample of porcelanosa in white that could work, depending on the shower tile. Pal, pipdog, roarah - the reason I like the fireclay. pj and heath is that their not perfect and have subtle variations in the color. Is dal more perfectly cut? Hi Terri-I love the penny round, but this shower is so huge, I'm worried it'll be too busy. But I am thinking of using it in at least one guest bath. It is so pretty and cute. Mayflowers - Fireclay is sending another foundation white out. Thanks for the heads up on that. I have a ton of samples coming. I am also thinking about their brick tiles on the fireplace.

I would have to say I don't do very much searching for perfection.

I own Lands' End all-weather mocs in a number of colors, and wear them all winter. They're perfect for me, at least.

I'm happy with my down pillow, and the latex one I stick under it if I want to read in bed.

My photographs are categorized by a) worth exhibiting, b) worth sharing, c) worth keeping, and d is for delete. :-)

On second thought, perhaps all the revisions I make to my writing projects have perfection as their goal.

Yes, and it sure is a b*tch, isn't it!

I've been looking for months for comfortable yet supportive daily sneakers (not for running, not for playing sports, just hanging-around sneakers). Don't want white. Don't want black. Don't want fluorescent colors on them. Don't want this, don't want that. And in the meantime I'm wearing the 2-year-old sneakers that are worn in the heels.

I searched through I can't count how many paint chips for the perfect wall color for the master bedroom. It went up in the fall. I hate it. (It looked nice on the test board!)

I always feel like I'm swimming upstream! But I just can't change my habits and think "Well, that's good enough." Life would be so much easier, wouldn't it...

Nanny is the neck roll filled with the little styrofoam beads? If it is and you start having dizzy spells toss it.

I don't do perfection. DH's best friend (now gone) was that way and I hated it. Everything had to be planed and perfect. Sure a good way to ruin a vacation. I have found out that if I am looking for something, either for the house or me and cannot find it, something else is better. Less stress.

Pillow- I got the side sleeper pro pillow, its pretty good, it cradles your neck and back. I still like the reg. pillows too. I don't think there is anything perfect. I still haven't found the perfect shoe and I have tryed many.
I'm still searching perfection.

I've found the perfect vacation destination, but, what makes it perfect is the seclusion and remoteness so I can't say where it is.

To follow in Haleys footsteps, I'm always looking for the perfect Huevos Rancheros. The place that made them doesn't exist anymore.

I agree with Luann, perfection doesn't exist.
As far as shoes, Clark's and Lands' End are the most comfortable for my feet.
The sturdy foam pillows for side sleepers are best for me. Not perfect, but better than down or polyester.

OMGosh....my neck roll HAS those little beads and oops...I have been having some spells of "vertigo".......OMG connected???? Out it goes ( as a matter of fact, I have three aaghh 3, of them)

I have been an advanced amateur and semi-pro photographer since 1966 and considering that I take upwards of 500 photos a day, I could not begin to tell you how many hundreds of thousands of photos I have taken over the years, but even to this day, whenever I am editing my photos I am reminded of the sage advice that was given me by my high school art teacher.

Regardless of what creative medium you choose, be it drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, music or even the written word, if ever you review a completed work and cannot see any area that could have been improved, you have reached the zenith of your ability, and its time to set your tools down and give up. YOU CAN DO NO BETTER.

I don't think I've ever searched for perfection in anything or anyone. It simply does not exist!

Lazypup...I borrowed that sage advice and forwarded it to my son. He's also into Photography and I'm always telling him HE is his worst critic. Now I understand why!! lol

I've got 35,000 perfect photographs. :) When my computer crashed, I had to get a smart cookie to retrieve them from the sick hard-drive. I was surprised there were *that* many!

For years, I've sought to find the perfect socks. I'd say Thorlo socks are the perfect ones! :)

Oh yes, Bee, I absolutely should have added "perfect bra" to my list.

I have shoes, pillows, and photos I like, but these are items (along with bras) that I'm always watching for better.
