oscar Red Carpet. I dont watch the Oscars, but enjoy

But I enjoy looking at the red carpet pictures afterwards.

For some reason I like looking at the fashions..

anyway, I was looking at this site and they had some pretty shots of some pretty people (don't know some! lol)

and the last one of Giuliani Racic was shocking.

That woman looks so unhealthy. She is TOO skinny.

too skinny. I try to not be critical of how people look

but this was shcoking to me. Gweneth Paltrow is skinny

too, but not like that. gosh!

Sandra Bullock was gorgeous, and so was Amy Adams.

I never watch the awards shows, don't watch much TV either. There are some really ugly dresses out there and to think they pay thousands of $$$ for that crap.

I watched the whole show, and thought Anne Hathaway's dresses (so many of them!) were gorgeous.

I don't think most of them pay for their dresses; the designers donate them for the publicity. Certainly the jewelry is borrowed!

Sally David & Grace Thank you so much! Lee you of all people know! Hope you are feeling better everyday! Cathy- I do believe in the power of this group! Mom is a big believer in thank yous no matter the 'gift' no matter the source. She taught us that not only do "thank you's" show appreciation to the person who did something lovely for you but they renew the faith in the giver to continue to do good and right in the future which does well for us all. She says she's working hard and looking forward to being healthier and moving ahead. Yeehah.

Oh crap...I miss read it! LOL IMHO, those award shows are nothing more than an opportunity for the stars to once again pat themselves on the back and say aren't we wonderful. It's no longer about the quality of a movie or the artistic beauty of it, it's all about how well known and popular the actor in it is. Most movies these days are just awful with no depth or thought to them. I got so tired of buying into the hype of the trailers and walking away disappointed, I stopped looking to the theaters for entertainment quite a while ago and watch whatever I can find in Hulu plus or Netflix. The only reason I saw the Descendents is because DH wanted to rent from Redbox and asked if I'd choose a movie too. Next time I'll just save the money.

Did not watch the Oscars but looked through a few red carpet photo sites the morning after. While I agree there weren't any big winners this year, neither were there a lot of huge losers, either....mostly everyone looked presentable, at least. That light blue dress.....the fabric looked so cheap. I know it wasn't, of course, but it looked like fake fortuny with rhinestones. And Pink...what's up with the regulation short haircut brushed up stiff like that, or making long hair look like that? Pink, Jennifer Lawrence, several others. Kate Hudson, a roger rabbit refugee, brilliant, Annie! And finally, Pink's rendition of Over the Rainbow? I find it very sad that every singer has to sing songs with that vocal adornment technique that used to be reserved for soul music in the 70s. Now it is used to disguise or compensate for narrow vocal ranges and the fact that the voice cannot sustain long notes on an even tone. Nowadays a singer is a person who can sing enough, and has some schtick that makes him or her famous. Most of today's singers actually have terrible voices. The likes of Judy Garland, Karen Carpenter, Cass Elliott, Patsy Kline, Barbara Streisand and others with true star quality voices are mostly gone. Lea Michele is one singer who sometimes uses that type of vocalization but doesn't need it, and she would have killed that song at the Oscars.

I read recently that George Clooney is still learning Italian. I don't know what was going on with him. I agree that the 'glaring looks' were just part of a gag but he acted so odd on the red carpet. I couldn't decide if he had been drinking, in a bad mood or had a fight with his girlfriend. And I didn't care for his shaggy locks. I don't find Sarah Jessica Parker attractive and it seems she selects her gowns just for their conversation points rather than what might be attractive. Her hairstyle reminded me of an elaborate geisha. Doogie was awful. I fear he's on the verge of over exposure. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin weren't too bad but they certainly weren't all that entertaining either. Miley Cyrus needs a posture lesson and someone to help her select a dress that fits and is becoming. But then I got a glimpse of her mother last night and now I know why she looked the way she did. Many of the women were just lovely and I enjoyed their gowns - Meryl, Helen Mirren, Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz, Sigourney Weaver. I didn't even miss the musical numbers until someone here mentioned them. I loved that UP won. That's going to be one of my all time favorites.

As for Giuliani (who is she, anyway?), the shoulders needed to be a little more filled out and definitely did not match the "enhancements" popping up.

I like to look at the pictures later, too, but did not watch the awards. This morning's paper had the best picture of Colin Firth with his award. I never thought he was that handsome or appealing, but after seeing him in King's Speech and a few interviews, he does have a boyish charm and cute grin. I'm happy he and his movie won.

I enjoyed the fashions too. Was it just me or did it seem like James Franco seemed to disappear for the middle part of the show? And while he became quieter Anne Hathaway became even more animated. They seemed an odd pairing.

Reese Witherspoon, #20, was stunning, and I didn't even know who she was. Just googled her. There really were some ugly dresses but what kept striking me was how white (almost pasty) many of them looked.

Breenthumb, I for one am happy to see women finally accepting that one does not have to be deeply tan to look attractive. Too many of our young women, my daughter included when she was a teen, ruin their skin in the attempt to be deeply tanned all year round.
