Viscose/wool blend rug? All the good qualities and none of the bad?
Comments (2)Hello I was wondering the same thing! Did you order it? If so how do you rate it so far? I too am currently looking at a 50/50 wool viscose blend area rug....See MoreCan someone tell me that viscose rugs are ok
Comments (2)I've had a viscose runner forever and love it. Is your short piled and sorta shiney? I wouldn't hesitate to buy another or a rug. The viscose rugs I've seen are usually thin which I like. I've had my runner 15++ years...I had it at my old house and where I am now. I've even washed it in the washer!!...See MoreWhy, Crate and Barrel, why? Or, how bad an idea is a wool/viscose rug?
Comments (7)Kristin, like you my preference for rugs is 100 percent wool. Whenever I have a question or need a slap upside the head, I check the rugchick blog. She has these posts about viscose, https://rugchick.com/2018/02/26/viscose-bamboo-silk-banana-silk-art-silk-what-you-need-to-know/ https://rugchick.com/?s=viscose We just moved into our new house and I was reminded how wonderful 100 percent wool rugs are. Our old house had crummy wall-to-wall carpets (selected quickly and thoughtlessly by my husband before we met) that did not like layering -- my Persian and Oriental rugs would always buckle -- so all of my rugs and then the ones I inherited from my late parents have been in storage for 8-25 years, variously in an unheated garage and an unheated storage container in western Canada. They all held up beautifully, and just needed a good beating outside and then a vacuuming. What size rug are you looking for?...See MorePlease help! 30% Viscose Rug Ruined after water cleaning
Comments (18)After a second look at the back of the carpet, the weave/weft is CLEARLY made up of the pale wool AND a MEDIUM BEIGE fibre. The BEIGE fibre is casting colour. There's your answer. The water is emulsifying the colour in the weft (the beige) and pulling it to the surface of the carpet (we call this wicking). This is a never ending story. So long as the weft remains beige (no one in their right mind is going to remove all the fibres and reweave this rug!!!!) you will have issues with the rug wicking yellow/beige colouring to the surface. At this point, the only thing you can hope for is the company you purchased from will take pity on you and will accept the return on this rug. Sadly you have done enough 'work' on this rug to make that highly unlikely. To maintain a warranty/returnability you would have had to contact customer service on the DAY this happened (and before you made ANY attempt to correct the issue). A return is your only hope....See MoreLyban zone 4
