nearly 56 and damned tired of having periods

This can't be normal can it? Anybody else out there putting up with this? Tell me there is relief in sight. I am glad not to be having hot flashes and all of that but gee whiz people think I am hallucinating when I attribute my zits to my periods.

Have you seen a dr?I had a hysterectomy about 5 years ago love it,dont miss that at all.

I had one at 43 and was the best decision I ever made. My doc recommended it.

Wow, what a bummer about that rabbit invasion......Isn't it interesting how we all have different kinds of critter invasions? I noticed that you used to live in Berkeley, which is where I am now and you had the same squirrel problem. I never thought about putting something sharp around pots, I've got to try that! I put up some hanging baskets and one day came home to find one smashed to the ground with a peanut buried in the soil. The squirrels bury those damn peanuts throughout my yard and if I don't check daily, they expose the roots of some plants and they dry out. You'd think that those of us that have dogs wouldn't have a critter problem, but even if they chase them off (like my dog Lucky does) they end up trampling a bunch of plants. Now I've got a rat visitor who likes to munch on bits of sunflower seeds that have fallen from the birdfeeder and he's tunneling through my freshly placed crushed granite paths and digging up the gravel underneath. Sailorman - I'll try to address some of the issues you brought up. Yes, we've definitely considered practically every scenario (as well as asked our contractor) as far as why the project started going downhill. That's not to say that it was perfect at first, just that we at least made significant progress over the first 3 months, compared to very little the past 3 1/2. As far as we can tell (we can only go with what info we are given), there is nothing going on with him personally that would affect the job this much. Other than the financial mess of course. As for that, we've offered to work with him in any way possible, short of simply coughing up more money than was even in the bid when he has no idea (or isn't saying) where it has gone. We've gone way over budget in many areas, but that's accounted for - we knew that would be the case when we started. As for the not showing up for the job, well, in my opinion, that's not acceptable for any reason. I sometimes have to work with people that I'd rather not and I can't just decide not to show up for my job several days a week and NOT EVEN CALL! And if I specifically say that I will be there the next day (such as on the weekend), I will either be there on time or at least call with a GOOD (meaning something more than I just didn't feel like it) excuse. I don't consider us to be difficult to work with as homeowners and if anything, we're probably more guilty of being too friendly and accommodating, so he's become accustomed to that. Lastly, as for project delays, we'll take blame for anything we cause such as deciding to make major changes or not being able to decide on something quickly enough, however so far that has not been the case. During the project, we've taken care of ordering every single thing in a timely manner including sinks, faucets, lighting, tile, appliances, etc and all have been sitting in our house for months. The cabinets are waiting to be intalled and granite has also been sitting at the fabricator's warehouse for months. So...not sure what else we could do to move this along. Sorry - I don't mean to sound defensive. It's just very frustrating to realize at this point that we might as well have served as our own GC and avoided any additional fees! I do appreciate the input and suggestions!

LOL, we got a letter today from our attorney (a copy of the letter she sent BM's attorney) reminding him that the court said BM had to pay the whole thing. Considering BM's voice message to DH: "Call me as soon as you get my message. I just got off the phone with Dr. XX and they gave me a figure.. and um, it's just not gonna happen cuz neither you nor I can come up with that amount... so I have a call into my lawyer and um, I don't know what we're gonna do.. but I just wanted to give you the figure.. so give me a shout." Honestly, I think she lives in her own realm... disconnected from reality. She was in court when the Judge agreed that since she owed DH, she would pay all of it. And our attorney said the evaluation would cost around $5,000. So why is it a surprise to her? Why would she say "neither you nor I can come up with" or "I don't know what WE'RE gonna do" like it's THEIR joint problem... It's HER problem. He'd rather get the back support from her and leave things the way they are than have the back support used up for an evaluation to change everything. But, that's the nut job we have to deal with!

WIshiwereintheup, I am still using the bare floor tool, extension hose and other extension tools from my first vacuum -- a Hoover bought about 45 years ago. It came with them -- in those days few upright vacs were designed with a hose that comes off for tool use; the extension had to be plugged into the unit when I wanted to use it. I've jerry rigged various adapters to allow them to be used with later vacuums. They are perfectly good; the bare floor accessory and extra length hose for my current vacuum was ridiculously expensive. I don't remember what happened to that Hoover. I think maybe when my DH used it to vacuum the garage without a bag in it (I clearly remember that!), that ruined it, but not sure. It would have been about 20 years old then and still a good vac.

I don't know if I have this correct or not, but maybe you can get a procedure called an intrauteral ablation (or something like that)--it uses an electrical current and apparently destroys the lining of the uterus which would normally be sloughed off every month...don't know the "down" side of this, but I seem to recall "no periods!"

Ask your doc, I guess

I thought July had been my last month .... until last week. What a disappointment. I've been putting up with this patiently for 39 years, but to have the end so close and have the glory snatched away from me ....!!!! If I still have it by the time I'm 56 - I'll be insane!!! I'm 50 now and patience is running thin.

I started menopause early 40's. Was on hormones for 15 yrs. I asked for a hysterectomy and the dr laughed, but said the insurance would not pay for it. She told me I'd have periods as long as I took the hormones - for the rest of my life.... Yeah, right. When I quit the hormones, at about 57, I quit the periods... YEAH!!! Just replace the hormones with the natural things recommended!

Shouldn't your doctor do a blood test to see at what stage you are in menopause? Mine did a blood test for years and when I was 53, she told me that my counts were low and I should start on HRT (that was 7 years ago). The first year I still had periods and she thought it was someting else and did a couple of tests. She increased the progesterone part of HRT and my periods stopped. Now things are different, but still you might want to see if you need a natural progesterone or something. (Personally I go off of the HRT when the bad reports came out, but many of my friends still are on it -- a personal thing.).

My wife come in tonight and told me the DR. said she would need a hysteroctomy. my wife is on the Estragin Implants.
She is having a period sometimes every 10 days in chunks.
Dr said she also had a tilted something which Ins pays to have done..
Some one explain me what happens. Does she still have orgasms?
Does the vigina still wet. What changes, sex wise?\
Are there mood swings? how do I need to help her during this.
Not to be weird I just need educating and I didn't want
to ask her quesions now.

Fat Daddy, You need to ask questions to your wife. She needs your love and support, so you should not ask a question in such a way that she will feel that she is disappointing you. She will go through many hormonal changes that her doctor can help her with. She needs to come to this board and ask questions herself. Sorry, but it isn't appropriate for you to ask questions for her. Your concerns should be addressed to your own doctor or perhaps to a support group for men. You really should address your concerns, but not here -- you are not the one going through menopause.
