Tiny bathroom design - making it larger by visual effect
Comments (4)I agree, I'd leave off the tile. The wainscoting will give the room plenty enough architectural as well as decorative detail. Hope you plan on painting it white. That's my preference. Any wainscoting above 42" tends to bring the ceiling down and make the space feel smaller. The size of your bath sounds like my current bath. I have RH's Silver Sage on top and white wainscoting on the bottom. It looks fabulous and sorry I can't post any photo's of it at this time. As far a wall paint, a nice pale blue or blue green would be lovely. BM's Cashmere Gray is what I have in my master bath....See MoreBathroom exhaust ceiling fan - old house
Comments (6)I agree for the most part with the above post. However, I think the article on the provided link goes a bit overboard. It is definitely a bad idea to vent a bathroom fan into the attic. However, flexible ducting is commonly used for bathroom fans (not for dryers which should have smooth metal duct). It is also fairly common to terminate the duct by butting it up to a vent opening in the wall or roof. I have seen many installations like this and have never seen them cause mold or wood rot (the amount of humid air that would get back into the attic is minute). While it probably wouldn't hurt to insulate the duct, I've rarely seen that done, with no adverse effects....See MoreTin-look wallpaper in bathroom
Comments (3)Thanks, PTAmom. You're absolutely right--leave it alone. I got up early and went to Lowe's. The sales associate was kind enough to open a roll of the paper and cut off a sizable piece for my experiment although she looked at me like I had 3 heads when I told her what I was doing. Anyway, long story short...I came home, stuck the paper over the tile and immediately hated it. I think I got caught up in a quick fix on the cheap and that's what it was looking like. I will say this, though, I think it could look ok if the tile were removed and I had a more substantial product than paper. Oh well, nothing ventured-nothing gained....See MoreVote For My Bathroom Ceiling Color
Comments (9)In a previous, previous home (2 houses ago), I painted my office ceiling with a formula of 1 gallon white paint + 1 cup of wall paint. It provided the perfect tint. I have no white ceilings in this house, but I'm not opposed to them. I just wanted a patina here. A creamy beige looks great on a ceiling with white trimwork if you get the undertones to work with the wall color. I have SW Grassland on the walls, SW Glass of Milk on the trim and SW Muslin on the ceiling in many of our rooms. It's very soothing. Cameron...See Moredecorpas
