Still 'cycling' after menopause?

Hi,

I haven't had a period for about 3 years, but I still feel like I know when what little estrogen I have drops. My sinuses dry up, my skin dries up, I get migraines, my GI tract acts up, I get very neurotic about dying, and I get really depressed, I cry at the drop of a hat, and I'm afraid to do anything.

It really feels like I'm still having cycles......just no periods.

I have fibromyalgia, and sometimes I can't tell if its a flare of that, or my hormones. Do any of the rest of you who are in menopause seem to continue to have these cycles? What a pain in the butt!!!!!

My periods are all out of whack. Missed 3 of them last year, now I've missed my second this year. Felt like I ovulated a couple of weeks ago, will see what happens. Depression, crying and anxiety are normal for me these days.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. DH pulled a valve off - I think it's the part you guys are talking about - and will go to the appliance parts store tomorrow to see if they have or can order a replacement. A funny thing, though: yesterday a friend of ours called and said he is replacing his almost brand new front loader and dryer. They're compact size and his fiance wants a full size top loader. Which means his is for sale. So it looks like we'll get a new washer/dryer, then try to fix the old washer and sell the pair. If we can't fix it, we'll sell it as needs repair. Won't get much for it, but it's no good to us as is. The new ones are Ariston, which has mixed reviews on this board. They aren't the combo unit, it's a separate washer and dryer. It's the AW122 washer. He's asking $500 for the pair, with pedestals (we'll try for $400.)

@livebetter... It looks like it does use different wash rhythms based on this video of an IQ Delicate cycle. Link below: There are longer pauses between tumble direction changes in general as compared to a "Normal" cycle. In the Delicate cycle, at first the close have more of a tumble action, then later have more of a roll action. I also noticed a change in tumble time between "tumble" and "roll tumble". Tumble lasted 10 seconds in each direction where Roll Tumble lasted 7 seconds. Pauses after the regular tumble lasted like 10 seconds but extended to like 20 seconds after a roll tumble...interesting. Here is a link that might be useful: IQ Delicate Cycle Video

I'm having the same issue. I was watching an episode of "The Doctors" the other day (the medical show, is there still a soap opera?!) and it was mentioned that women could purchase several devices to exercise the pelvic floor. I wondered if anyone had tried them, and whether they were any more effective than the old-fashioned "Practice starting and stopping the flow" which doctors have said for years.

Hi Young, "One big cyst" lol! I'm just one big stretch mark! I had a follow-up ultrasound, and one cyst went away and the other one is smaller, so hopefully they're on their way out. My ovaries are persistent little boogers! It's amazing how long they're hanging on!

Just got what I think is my period. Light bleeding, cramps aren't too bad. The anxiety drives me nuts!

Ever since I went through perimenopause EVERYTHING makes me anxious! Its such a drag!
I wonder if its related to sleep problems? Sleep deprivation can really make a person whacky!

Today the bleeding is heavier, and the cramps really kicked in. I wonder if the anxiety is causing the sleeplessness, or vice versa. Whichever way it is, it's not fun!!

I had a sleep study last May, which showed I had various sleep problems (apnea, alpha wave intrusion, no REM sleep). It makes me wonder if lots of women going through menopause begin to have these kinds of problems. I guess I'm finally going to think about trying a cpap machine, but I think it will be a challenge.
In retrospect, I really think its been my sleep problems that have made the past 10 years pretty much a constant struggle. I think sleep deprivation can cause all sorts of craziness. Even if you think you've had a good night's sleep, it doesn't mean you have.
