Need Help with Power Point

I messed up!!!!

I have Windows XP and had made a Microsoft Power Point presentation of some pics quite a while ago. It was my first attempt and I was quite pleased with the result. This morning I added a couple of pics and stupidly clicked on " Read Only" when a window came up. Now when I go to watch it, it comes to that spot and quits and I have no idea how to fix it. Can someone help a frustrated old gal????

Try going to file>properties.
Under the General tab, and under attributes, uncheck 'read-only', then ok.

Usually a "Read Only" message comes up if you are opening a Powerpoint file directly from an email attachment or someone else already has the file open. Check to make sure that isn't the case.

I create Powerpoints for a living, doing as many as a half a dozen a week. If you can wait until next Tuesday I will take a look at the file. I'm leaving shortly for three days out of town to celebrate Valentine's weekend.

Betty, open Control Panel, click on Appearance and Themes. Then click Folder Options. A box will open with tabs across the top. Click on File Types. An alphabetical list of all the file types on your computer will open. Scroll down to .pps and make sure that the association is with Microsoft Power Point Viewer. If it isn't, there is a button marked Change and you can make this change there. Hope this is what you are wanting.

Good post Bob. Mine is nothing like that- but I wish it was! The pps come as attachments to email, Windows Live Mail -I hate it. Right click on attachment pps: Mine opens little window/box in center of screen. Top left says "mail attachment" Top right has red "X". "Do you want to open this file?" "Name: Beautiful pictures.pps" "Type: Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Show" Then offers choice of "Open or "Cancel" Selecting "Open" brings message: Big Red X "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel". I do have Windows PowerPoint viewer installed- and have booted several times since then. It is in my programs list.

There is a free PowerPoint viewer that allows you to view PowerPoint presentations but not create or edit them. If you want to create presentations you need to buy Office or PowerPoint. If you are looking for a free solution try Open Office. Here is a link that might be useful: PowerPoint Viewer

It's been a while since I used Power Point, but I believe they have a function (in the File or Tools menu?) for reverse imaging for compatability with some projectors.

Thanks so much for the help. I'm a real dummy at this.

judys ont, when I went there, it was all grayed out and I couldn't do anything. That led me to believe I was missing something some place.

I, then, kept experimenting and finally found the problem. I had neglected to go to " slide transitions" and do the settings there. Everything is fine now and I'm so pleased.

Thanks to for your offer ,jodi. I really appreciate it. Maybe next time, I will remember, or maybe I should pactice more - or probably both.
