My preference is a bunch of mini-carnations, multi-colored, with baby's breath and greens. (I am easy to please!)

Having said that, it isn't necessarily what DH would buy.

Never any way of knowing what he WILL get, but he WON'T buy:

Cut flowers--he thinks it's a waste of money to buy something that expensive that only lasts a short time.

Roses--he knows I'm very allergic to them.

He'd get me something growing in a pot, expecting it to last forever.

Roses, orchids, and carnations.....he's a great DH sometimes ;o)

I'd rather have something I can put in the ground later. No cut flowers for me.

I would like tulips or lilacs the most.

Carnations. But he usually gets something like Evening Primrose in a pot. He's only sent me cut flowers once, to my job, on Valentines Day.

I don't get them often, but when I do it's white roses. That's all we had in our wedding, he knows they're my favorite.

Flamingo, my mom's favorite are lilacs. Growing up in Ohio, she always had lilacs planted somewhere. Now, in Florida, she can't grow them. She says that, other than family, it's what she misses the most. I order early for Mother's Day, though, so I can have some delivered to her every year.

It is generally a bunch that he picks up at a discount store or grocery store...the $9.99 bunch that lasts over a week! =)

I love it if he just picks a flower or 2 from the yard and hands it to me! Most of the time tho, it is something that can go in the ground or planter outside!

I love getting roses.

He would get me red roses but I love tulips and daffodils the best.

My favorite are Star Gazer Lillies. They will last a couple of weeks and scent the whole room!

My SO doesn't believe in cut flowers either - but he has gotten me roses on occassion. He knows my favorite is yellow roses if it's going to be roses. I'd prefer daffodils though.

Stephanie - my mother's favorite is lily of the valley - but you can't grow them here in Florida either. I miss the northern flowers like lilacs, crocus, tulips, etc.

He knows better than to waste his money like that. However, one time he stopped and brought me a flower out of a ditch, and I appreciated that. And one time he was coming back from Louisiana and stopped to get gasoline and saw an old cemetary and a rose growing on the fence, and he brought me a cutting...I apprecited that, and I grew it into a beautiful climbing rose that I still have. That is the kind of thing I like. I love flowers, but I grow my own. Bring me a little cutting off of an old rose....that would make me happy.

Irises but Tulips are a close second.

He would buy me a rose bush, something we both enjoy. We really don't do cut flowers here unless they come from my yard.
Years ago he would call the florist and have them bring me flowers, cut, plants, whatever. I finally told him not to do that anymore, the florist bill was out of this world...we could find them much cheaper else where.
He pretty much stopped buying them.

I love freesias and tulips and gerbera daisies. But, on the rare occasion that my DH buys me flowers, he will get red roses because he thinks that is the ultimate romantic gesture and what his father bought for his mother. I keep telling him that red roses are never my choice but he doesn't see why I would not want them. I finally had to put my foot down and tell him no flowers. If I want them, I'll buy them for myself. I know that sounds mean but that way I get what I want, not what he thinks I should have.

My husband would do roses too...I think it's a thing that guys automatically think roses when they think flowers...

I love flowers too and I love having a bouquet in my living room. A friend sent me a mixed arrangement in a large basket that was so beautiful and so me.... if I had to choose, I would choose a woodsy/country mixture of flowers...but I love them all. I do buy them for our home often at the market.

My wife says I don't have a romantic bone in my body, and she's probably right.

I had never gotten her flowers before, but on our 10th anniversary I made arrangements to take the day off from work without telling her. I mentioned that I'd be at an all day meeting just so she wouldn't call me for something or other. I picked up a dozen long stemmed roses, and a cake that said 'Happy 10th Anniversary, I love you!" on it.

I left for 'work' just like normal. I went out and had breakfast until the florist and bakery were open. I picked up the flowers and cake, went home, walked in and announced "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!"

My wife said "When you came walking in, I thought you'd lost your job."

Well first off, if my DH brought flowers to me I would be asking "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE AND HOW BAD IS IT?" LOL My Dh knows not to buy flowers for me. I am not into the flower thing. But I do like roses as long as I can look at them on a rosebush.

DH surprises me with flowers often... we both love them so much. If I were rich, I'd have fresh flowers brought in every day.

He does just about anything, except daffodils - which makes me sneeze plenty.

A dozen roses from our local Farmer's Market. They are rather inexpensive since they are from a local grower.
He knows I like pink roses but would probably get red ones.

At least she didn't exit your bedroom with a towel wrapped around her with a startled look on her face, stuttering, red-faced and barricading the door......only to hear the window in your room open, a loud thud and feet running on the gravel driveway. Don't laugh, but that's what a dear friend of DH came home to a few years back when he decided to surprise his wife and come home early for their anniversary (and if that's not adding insult to injury on her part, I surely don't know what is!). Suffice it to say that he's not married to her any more.

Probably wildflowers or something unusual. I'm not much of a roses kind of girl, although I would still love to get those also!

Well, he doesn't get me flowers (we're too practical, lol), but if he did, he knows I love tulips, tulips, tulips! I also love the fragrance of hyacinths.

Mine usually gets me a mixed bouquet of flowers similar to my wedding bouquet. Sometimes it's roses or something else.

My 5 yo dd has noticed that I get flowers for various occasions and is jealous so now she has started demanding them too. Her favorite color is pink so dh had the florist put together a little pink bouquet for Valentines Day. She loves it. Fortunately, the boys aren't so demanding. They were happy with the few pieces of candy I gave them.

Mrsmarv: with (at the time) a 9, 7 and 6 year old running around, there wasn't much fear of that!

I like cyclamen -- any color. DH even knows to pick a plant with lots of 'babies' at the base of the plant, waiting to shoot up and keep the blooms coming.

I love the look of the exotic lillies, but they have so much pollen they make me sneeze. Orchids are good, but it's hard to keep them going in a house with forced-air heat.

Any kind. He knows I love flowers and he loves giving them to me. He also knows I don't want him spending a lot of money on cut flowers because they don't last (living plants, well that's another thing), so anyway he usually brings inexpensive flowers from the grocery or Walmart. It's tough for him to do though, because he wants to buy them when I'm not with him, and we're usually together except when one is at work and the other isn't. They've varied from roses, to carnations, to anything in between.

Last year at my birthday party, it was asked what my favorite flower was and my husband put down "Gold Medal".
He never has bought me flowers.

For Val's day I got yellow Peruvian lilies(Alstroemeria) and dark purple tulips. The tuplips were tight buds and now they are almost completely blown. The Peruvian lilies still look good. He usually gets me a mixed bouquet. I rarely get roses since I grow so many, over 30 bushes.

My DH tends to buy me mums...with roots. I love seeing them bloom every year. There is nothing better than a flower that keeps on giving.

He would get me roses. Whether they were store bought or cut from his roses. Sometimes a mixed bouquet. But he always shops for the ones that have the most smell. We don't like roses that don't smell! Seems like they've all had the scent bred out of them. They are still pretty, but I want to smell them, too! The one flower we both found we can't have in the house is daffodil's. We bought a bunch once, and sneezed all the way home, never thinking it was the flowers, as we had been sneezing off and on all morning, that time of year! We had to throw them in the garbage, it got so bad.

The only flowers he gives me are the camillias he picks from the back yard when they're blooming.

I hope, other than roses, nothing with a scent. Oh, my poor nose... and those darn allergies!

My favorite are tulips! I think Red Roses are nice, but way too common. I like flowers that are a little more unusual. Someone else mentioned Star Gazer Lillies which are beautiful and smell wonderful! Also daisies are fun!

I was in a store recently and saw someone wearing a Plumeria. I grew up in Hawaii so that instantly took me back to those days! My next door neighbor had a tree that we used to make our Hula leis from.

Wayne would bring me yellow roses. They are my favorite. He brought me 2 dozen for Valentines Day. NancyLouise

If DH remembers, he will try to bring me something daisy-like. Sometimes his rememberer doesn't work. This Valentine's day my flowers were a spray of yellow silk roses bought at a convenience store. Mean me said, "Thank you..they're lovely. Are you planning to put them on my headstone?"

As long as they're yellow, I'm not fussy.
